Exploited were my hate-pets for many years until I saw them and got to know and appreciate them in person and I have developed an obsession for some of their stuff.
Not all records are great in my opinion, yet the they really wrote some gems, even in recent times. will check out for this.

You can see where my tastes lie. I always thought they were at their best with these mid paced, tribalistic type of songs.

Fuck, I'd forgotten how much I loved this.

I've been listening to tons of DISCLOSE lately. Every record is a ripper.
Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song and there's always music in the air.

Discharge - Never Again 1984 - the first thing I heard from Discharge.
Nuclear Assault - Game Over/The Plague - this has not aged well - I cannot deal with his voice.
Discharge - 83-11-24 Toronto AUD master - this is sort of a funny and unfortunate deal (I think a vinyl release of this is silly in the first place, but outside of that...).  the guy who originally taped it releases a direct transfer in reaction to the vinyl release on Ugly Pop.  while I get his point, a punk label really can't afford to stop a pressing near the end to go back and do it correctly.  the ignorance of most people into music is also at play here.  had a seasoned taper and trader got involved in this, one of their first moves would more than likely had been to track down the person who taped it.  that's all part of the constant obsession with cutting down the lineage of the recording right to its source.  it's taping/trading 101, but most people outside that world can't even imagine the basics.  it's weird like that.  and it is more often possible track down the taper than not, even with the most obscure shit.  it's especially ridiculous in this instance because the taper is from Toronto, and I believe Ugly Pop is based in Toronto as well.  you can read about it and grab it here:  http://www.punktorrents.com/thread-154096.html

and a couple of new Harley Flanagan/Cro-Mags(?) tracks (the lyrics are...):

Hatred Surge has been on my "commuting playlist" for the past couple days.
I liked their split with The Endless Blockade so I decided to check the rest of their stuff

SFN was probably the last powerviolence band to deserve the name. The earliest Column of Heaven releases fall under that rubric as well, really excellent stuff. All of their material is mandatory. And I'd also have to recommend Full of Hell's "Rudiments of Mutilation" LP and the collab LP with Merzbow. Definitely some elements of powerviolence there, along with a lot more.

SFN were great. Sea of Shit. Gas Chamber. Iron Lung is forever. I still don't get why so many people love Full of Hell.

There's an argument that Urine Festival are a punk band and they're are noisey as all Hell.

But I seem to have missed the boat on that and it's all about power violence now... Maybe it always was.

I don't get why they have such an enormous following, but only I'm comparison to other bands who have a similar sound and no one pays them any attention. They are really great, I think that Merzbow collab was my favorite record of last year. I guess the fact that they tour constantly is something that really helps.

I also truly do not understand their name. But that's just me! I saw them twice recently and it was really incredible.

As far as new PV goes, there's a Canadian band called New Flesh that are great. A few demos and a split 7" and that's it. I think they're RIP at this point.

Not really powerviolence, but Triac is always great and underrated - they have a new split 7" with Sacridose

Another underrated (imo) band is Transient, that LP is a ripper

And of course Dead In The Dirt if you like your grind with a huge His Hero Is Gone influence.

Concerning Hatred Surge - Deconstruct is the best they ever did. Production and songwriting on that album is ace.

Not quite what I remember it as, still:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8chNaT1ogE

Elements of things that came from hardcore.

It has a total rejection of values (in a way that gore music or even pornogrind doesn't), it's like anti anarcho punk, not a productive type of punk, but a lot more liberating.
