Anyone know anything about the Tuscon band, Sex Prisoner?  Are they a Brainbombs or power-electronics informed power-violence band?

band kicks ass. total 90s PV worship and probably the only band doing that style to actually sound fucking heavy
Probably the best newer PV band to my ears:  https://cavestate.bandcamp.com/

HAHAHAHA. I disagree. But I mean, there's been an endless debate about them in the entire French punk scene for months now.

I dunno I can listen to some Chelsea, Angelic Upstarts 4Skins or some other band contemporary to them. But listening to current Oi I get kind of a flat feeling. Its much the same as current punk hardcore bands. Way past derivative. They don't even know the provenance of the tropes they are flogging.
Though at least the OI bands aren't turning into fucking juggallos like the punks seem to be doing lately.
And geez, going to one of these revival/reunion shows is kind of sick. I guess it is nice to see old geezers I haven't seen in 15 or 30 years. But most of the time it just reminds me of all the Skinhead violence/ARA shit. "hey didn't me and my buddies beat the shit out of you and knock your teeth out?"
I'm way too old for any of that. Heck a hearty pat on the back and I'd spit out a molar or two.

What's the debate about? I'm not an oi!-fanatic, just think their first 7" is ace! Of the current wave of bands i also like Crown Court, Vanity & Last Crusade..

Really liked the Nerfs A Vif 7" I have heard on line recently. Wattie's Lion's Law have been among my favorite in the past few years, finely arranged oi! with great singalong. I would have loved to listen to the same songs in French, same as he does in Maraboots.

I have grown up listening many French oi bands, most of which has always been superb. Komintern Sect, Snix, Skinkorps, Warrior Kids, RAS, Evil Skin, Anti Patik (singer now plays in Lion's Law and Hard Times), The Herberts, Camera Silens, etc.

Any now and then they still deliver the goods. I really like the label Bords de Seine, good rooster and great reissues.

Good compilation that gives a wide overview of what was going on in the early days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNy3wwv4TP0

Bleak Existence

Brutal Combat was the best buyed the Charle Martel lp in 88 or 89 was blow away how hard it sounded big + is im from Quebec and we talk french here so i understand all what the lyrics was about that was the good old time back then it was pure bliss

They were the French answer  Combat 84! They have been very influential also on many Italian OI/Rac bands.

Canada has quite a few glorious names itself: Vacant Lot, Trouble Makers and now Legitime Violence.

I hate Oi and I hate RAC and all the Chaos En France and alterno bands have really shitty lyrics in general. Why does one want to listen to shitty punk when they have Wretched or Crass ruling the scene in their own countries? I'll never get it.

LOL!
you are funny.
Had my share of wretched back in the days - and met some of them several times -. Gianluca (Bassist from in contro luce 7") was from my area, top notch guy and was also in Disper-Azione which was the first hc band I ever listened to (the singer's wife was my neighbour, and his brother in law was hanging around with me as a kid).
Wretched recently rereleased several things (also nice shirts).

Anywaym I much prefer OI/street punk than Italo-hc -which anyway was good, but I prefer slow stuff with plenty of singalong, with smarter aesthetic and street credibility.

Italo-hc lasted very few years and despite its importance (and quality) it ended pretty soon, so...

Regarding Crass, I only enjoy the first record, the rest has good layouts, but not my cup of tea. Never been into the whole anarcho-punk / crusty thing. A few good projects, but not for me.

I really dislike slower punk material in general, unless it gets moody. And it's interesting to see how we give credibility to totally different things. Street punk doesn't have any "street credibility" to me, let even "smart aesthetics."

Disper-Azione's first EP is awesome.

it is - as usual - a matter of tastes
well, considering most people playing street punk back in the days lived in the streets and not in universities as most anarco-punks, I think it did, at least according to my personal experience and lifestyle :) this does not mean mean i consider them "cooler", it was just the way it was when I was growing up.
there were exceptions of course.... see the notorious "feaud" between Rome (Bloody riot) and Milan (Virus). BUt I lived the very end of that period. I was "second generation" eheh

disper-azione.

there was also an amazing demo tape with different version of some their classics, that sounded more like wretched and didn't have that weird drum sound of the cult 7".
Gianluca, the bassist formed JINX, a very powerful noise-rock project that toured with Unsane. Definitely one of loudest Italian bands ever, although records (and videos) fail to capture their strength.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXMjbekgxzE. we shared drummer for a while, I think he should have kept playing with them!

I am sure you are fond of Nerorgasmo/Blue Vomit, aren't you? The collections released in the past few years were amazing,

Another one I like is Discharge, up to the silly hair metal shit...but that was just the times (look at SSD and TSOL). Always thought they were good crusty stuff with a brutal, heavy sound, always thought the short slogans for lyrics worked really well for their left-wing stance. And, although there's the whole "D-Beat" style, nobody quite matched them. Anti-Cimex from Sweden were always considered D-Beat as well, but I never saw much similarity between them and Discharge.

early discharge, conflict, etc. were epic. much more violent/in your face than crass.

I wish Disclose had done like a 7-minute version of "The More I See". Shit is heavy, but with the right band and ear, someone could turn this into such a monstrous crusher.  The Japanese band Final Bombs can make a decent argument for Grave New World not being as bad as it once seemed.
