Hello, I hope this is a relevant enough post to stay in here.

A couple of friend will be in Paris sometime in March as they were due to attend a now canceled John Zorn thing.  They're still planning to go so I've said I'll try and find some tips for gigs, music shops or generally any kind of cultural stuff.  Any suggestions?

Please delete or move if this is in a bad place.
Thanks

http://www.timeout.fr/paris/en/shopping/bimbo-tower - good luck in actually finding it, the passage isn't marked on most maps, many experimental music fans have wandered round the area scratching their heads. The mainstream music megastore Fnac in the Bastille also has a decent industrial section. Some good bars and cheap food around there too.

Unfortunately the Fnac of Bastille is closed !
Bimbo Tower is my favorite record store in Paris, here is the exact location on Google Maps.
For french punk/Oi, post-punk, wave, crust, Born Bad is ok. This shop is really close to Bimbo Tower.
Not far from these two shops, there is Souffle Continu : indus, neo-folk, krautrock, psychedelic, jazz...
If they're into (post-)metal, sludge, indie music... Musicfearsatan is great, lot of cheap records. They have an online mailorder too.
In the Boulevard Saint Michel, Gibert Joseph is worth a visit. I found a lot of cheap, second-hand rarities (mostly metal). They have a small indus/folk/goth section.
Near Saint Michel, there is a great bookshop called Un regard moderne.

Go to Le Club 88. And the Catacombs.

There's also the huge 'park' kind of place with all the trannie prostitutes that just line the street & will take you into The Woods.

Ritual

I second the suggestion of the catacombs. A very intense and beautiful experience.

you could also go to the catacombs with a trannie, that would be great.
Isn't the Sonic Protest festival in March?

Just tell them to go for a walk. The Champs Elysée, the Louvre, the Pompidou, the Siene...fuck, I wish I was in Paris right now. Only three days there, best three days of my life.
Shikata ga nai.

And Pigalle up the hill to Sacre Coeur/Montmartre, and the Tuileries, and Pere Lachaise cemetery, and the street life of Rue St Denis...it's not somewhere I'd like to live, and the rudeness of some locals is certainly no myth, but it really is a magical place to visit and so much is walkable.

Yep same lass.

You can basically fuck this thread off now...I've sent info out and most of it has been rudely unacknowledged so FUCK EM.

That isn't serious mind but yeah, they've got plenty to do now.

i just thought with you both being in brighton, etc. but yeah, there was always surely gonna be plenty to do there.
