How to build a spring reverb - for dummies.

Since this summer, I have been using many springs in my self-built tools (a rough example: https://vimeo.com/73684270)
But I would like to build mysefl a proper spring reverb.
Suggestions? examples? schemes?

Here's something I've been meaning to build for years but usually settle for just contact mics on a slinky without all the fancy stuff, still it's fairly simple and would be a truely cavernous reverb sound - http://www.electronicpeasant.com/projects/springs/springs.html

And of course it's really easy to use an existing reverb tank ripped from a dead amp or bought cheaply on ebay. You don't even need to build anything, just connect the input and output to FX send and return/channel of a mixer works fine in my experience Or just use one of both as output to pedals to use it as an instrument for feedback + spring bashing.

hate to say this, but i would also be inclined to just pick up a spring tank for 5-20e instead of the hassle of building one myself... unless you reallyreallyreally want to build it

The other week I found a mini slinky spring which is a much more convenient size for building a reverb, going to try to actually do so soon. A piezo clipped to each end as pickup and driver works ok for noise purposes but their rotational approach would be much better for something sounding more like conventional reverb and less like Star Wars blaster sound fx :)

Had to dig up this old thread, but I am keen to make a reverb.

The simple slinky spring reverb looks do-able to me however.
