Snuff - Anonymous/Male Supremacy/Dresden
Nice compilation, especially the song choice and the flow in the live track is amazing!

K2 - Autopsy Soundtrakks (Kinky Musik Institute)

I find myself becoming more partial to synth-driven K2 as the years go on.  Metal-bashing has its time and place, but I feel like this era of the project gave way to weirder sounds and ideas.  Even if this one has a bit more of your typical industrial pacing, the jabs of tape and drum machine make it extremely engaging.  Surprised this one has never received the reissue treatment; great stuff.

It hasn't been reissued by itself, but it is part of the Burst After Burst Urashima box.

Medical Data - Perimeter/26 Dec 1964 (Servile Ghost Tapes)

Taking a trip to the land down under this morning with what I would call a "phenomenal" tape.  There is a ton of dead air sound, tape mangling and crude oscillation to boot.  What keeps me so intrigued is the mystery around the project's creator, Thomas Sprague (aka Chris Wade).  Seems like he got into making things in 1984, and just dipped right after.  Any Ozzies in this form know what happened to him?  Would love to know.  This stuff is too good to be ignoring over 40 years later.

RMSS - Lihasmuisti CD (Satatuhatta)
One 30+ minute long track with plenty of variation from drones to field recordings to all manners of chirp'n'clatter and noisy bursts. Never gets properly harsh though. It all flows nicely and there's real skill in editing and layering sounds.

Jim Haynes - Inconsequential CD (White Centipede Noise)
For whatever reason I expected something along the lines of Jeph Jerman or something. Maybe I got Haynes mixed with someone else? Anyways, no rustic stuff here but maybe something like Anenzephalia (sans vocals) meets Mika Vainio. No clean sound but rather rough all over. At near an hour's length maybe a bit too long for my taste. 15 minutes shorter would've made this more hard-hitting, now I felt my concentration wane towards the end. I still liked this quite a lot.

Wolf Eyes - Mugger (Hanson Records)

On the nastier side of the never-ending story that is Wolf Eyes.  So much filth and aggression tied into this one; can't help but feel miserable through it all.  While the band's reputation has not been that of "harsh noise" for many years now, releases like this can remind you that at one point in time, these Michigan boys could distort and feedback as well as anybody.  Repulsive stuff; I think I may throw Sandpapered Eyes on next to keep this wave going.

I may have said something about this, and my feeling very much the same, but also I think it must be the mastering that makes album too "hard" on certain frequencies. I know I made same mistake myself, but a lot of frequencies feel like boosted in a wrong way. Not being harsh in ear candy way, but more like "what the hell dude, don't ruin it" -type of mastering. Certain frequencies just drill your ear drum in bad way and I am quite sure that if one would hear unmastered original recording, it would be better.

Quote from: Cranial Blast on February 27, 2025, 03:04:10 AMMacronympha - Relentless reissue was nice to see! I've had the cassette tape for some time and it's one of the go-to tapes by Macronympha, lots of distorted harsh noise calamity at it's finest! I'm curious as to why the CD didn't have a booklet, I'm guessing perhaps just was that limited to have any orginal art. I hope Tribe Tapes can and will do a CD reissue of Macronympha's Physical Chaos album. I think that's my favorite stuff by Macronympha, so a CD version would be great!

To try something different, we decided that the disc itself + jewel case should be the cover artwork. The original cassette via Art Konkret had a couple different cover designs, psychedelic / colorful patterns. Elements of these are used elsewhere in the packaging. It is not mentioned anywhere on the release page, but the CD is sent alongside an additional xeroxed insert. The idea is that it can be folded and used as an optional cover.

Interesting! I wondered that with the additional xeroxed insert, if that wasn't ment to potentially be part of the CD for some supplemental piece of art. Thanks for the low down on that and thanks for re-issuing this one too, definitely some solid Macronympha material!

What kind of insert was that? It was probably only for direct orders from label?
