I did like some of the Himukalt stuff before, but not everything. Now that OEC published HIMUKALT "Sex Worker : The Complete Recordings" 4x cd, something just clicked and feels like this long format thing really suits the project! Sharp, electric, occasional beat too, but that is in very small role overall. Original material is mastered by Grant, and for this material, it works very nicely.
Spoken vocals, a lot of kind of bleak  stuff. Less of juicy sex, more of things you would think sex workers revolve around. Neat clamshell box with booklet.

I'm was listening to some recent Masonna reissue cds today. It's all really good material but none of them stood out. Will be going through some others stuff I have the next few days.

Merzbow - New Takamagahara ([OHM] Records/Jazzassin Records)
Could this be the most slept on release in the 90s era of Merzbow?  I don't know -- maybe others had heard of and regraded it highly before me, but then again, I have never seen talk of it anywhere.  So I'm going to go out on a limb and say yeah, this is highly underrated!  Some of the harshest highs and deepest lows of the Merzbow sound palette are on display here.  This made for a great driving soundtrack after a gig.  I found myself on multiple occasions throwing my arms up like "YES!  THIS is why he is king!"  We can only dream of reaching this kind of excellence.  This is a crucial release.  Listen right now.
