Sick Seed "prison songs" cd, one of the less discussed Finnish albums that could be described as a classic. If just there was more recognition? Many mention the first album, but I think the two CDs that came out on f&v a bit later or even better. Massive, personal, like a confession from pervert. Zero pretension, just shameless and ugly.
In some ways, many of the sounds in the Lofi aesthetic reminded me of some early The Haters material even if sick seed is very strong orientated. It made me pick up The Haters "Future Cheers" CD reissue from shelves. Really excellent CD I must have written many times so not much to add!
CCCC "Chaos is the cosmos" CD. This CCCC, I certainly have had it since it came out, and I think I had listened other copy for sure, but this one I just opened from shrinkwrap and it was totally blown out how different it is compared to what I remember it to be! There are even spoken word parts by Mayuko. I recall telling people this isn't so great CCCC, but forget about it. It is mandatory!
Borbetomagus s/t from 1982. Not the self titled debute. Painful and ripping. Really good CD. As people probably well know. Despite being made with instruments, one can count this as pretty much pure noise. Been watching the miniDV tapes of the Finnish Borbetomagus gig for months thinking... should I digitize some part of it and upload.. maybe.
IRM "Indications of nigredo. Indicator: 1" 12"
This was previously only 12" vinyl, but now found from the 3xCD set on Old Captain. I am sort of hesitating. I do have item in distro, but do I want to take it to myself if I have both albums it has, plus this material of 12".. and about dozen minutes of bonus material. Triple CD for just bonus stuff... hmmm.. In other hand, its just few mm slice in cd shelves.. Well, listening this 12" now makes me think I will probably take the CD version too.
IRM could be described to be something like Scott Walker slaps high fives with droning euro heavy electronics. It has the arty, acoustic, nightmarish, composed & actual Instrumentation there, and the wailing rather high pitched vocals.. but those are also flanged like power electronics and whole sound has the noisy electronics as well. I wonder if they are preparing something really new, or getting back on stage, as I'd really like to see IRM play again. I guess "Closure" was really a closure?!
Merzbow "pinkream" CD - have had this since the 90's and I doubt I ever heard anyone saying its the best one. Nevertheless 1995, era where synth starts to lurk in more heavy, yet it has the killer early 90's feel too. Starts a bit lame, but gets better and better until you start to wonder... it must be someone's best of Merz list?! Perhaps someone who was exposed to this before hearing some of the undisputed classics. Really good noise CD!
Out of all Linekraft CD's, I would suspect "Delusional Disorder" I listened less than many others. No reason really. Industrial noise, excellent. Rusty, metallic, noisy, yet with definite industrial feel to it. I still can't really get into "keep industrial out of harsh noise" -type of attitude, since I never knew guys who listen THAT industrial. Its all about machines, junkyards of industrial sites etc.. Not really dance beats and PVC pants type of thing. Although, no bad things to say about PVC trousers either. Back in the 90's living in conditions where no luxuries like washing clothes, PVC was good. Just rinse them under water tap, shake a bit and you're good to go. Hah...
After recent IRM 12" post. This CD, Martin Bladh – Study For A Theater Of Cruelty - I didn't have much memories how it sounds, and it was somehow misplaced anyways due it doesn't have spine text and it was in whatever random pile of CD's. Which is the horrible situation I have had for years. Noise CD shelves are full and there are probably more CD's just piled in the floor, scattered around... anyways, fairly simple mostly electronic drone that has acoustic element to it. Non stop 40 minute piece that is actually 5 tracks, but flows without pauses. 2009 on Annihilvs.
Torba "Musica Convenzionale" CD. Which label was working on Torba CD box? Should get their act together and just send it to press, since it feels this has been long to be done and especially over here among many finns, its been on "lets hope someone does anthology of Torba" -discussions for years! Excellent CD. When sound collage art is done by "noise guy" and neat dose of "UG vibe" is there, and noisiness, without lacking any compositional skills and taste of "legit art", hah. 5/5
Couple posts above mr. "K.p.g." make post about underrated Merzbow CD: New Takamagahara. I was instantly thinking: I need to listen to this CD. It's Norwegian release from 1998 and kpg was not kidding when saying it appears to be one of the less mentioned, but insanely good Merz-albums. Psychedelic xxx graphics, colorful, EMS synth driven sound, that has still plenty of massive harsh distortion. Indeed one of the good things about forums is not only new discoveries or someone giving good advice what to try to get, but also to be reminded about things you could pick up from your own shelves and be blown out how it was even better than it felt last time you listened it.
Countless other noise listened recently, but at times felt like my posts are flooding the forum so have been leaving little space for the rest..
