I'm very excited for new XE, like always! I like how unpredictable XE can be, despite hearing some others say it all sounds the same. I remember the split with Reek Of The Unzen Gas Fumes, which is quite great! XE side was like Mannerheim's meeting with Hitler under some distorted noise, which is vastly different than say Purity Through Fire, my own personal favorite, which felt like a showcase version of XE as a whole and what XE can bring! That would be my XE recommendation to those not so familiar with the project, that one seems to be the magnum opus in my opinion and enough varied material, enough feedback and enough vocal screaming command to get the full scope of whether this is for you or not. The more recent collaboration work with Zyklon SS takes on a whole new kind of beast, a good proper mix of old school PE and Industrial, so in my opinion the project is absolutely essential and easily one of the best things out there today and so therefore, I cannot wait to hear the new XE album!

I think it is curious to notice, that many people have said the latest Bizarre Uproar is his best for years. Rocker had review that mentioned it. I think that Vihanmiehet new album is their best. Closer to second album, but I like louder vocals! XE new album, indeed, better than former album(s)! Not that I would have not liked previous works, but just seems factual that now every project Markkula has been creating, is not like "old men getting weaker" (what was one of his thesis for reducing live activity), but as total opposite of becoming relic that would merely rehash something, each project is pushing further! Stronger! And it doesn't happen in terms of return to sound that fans drool for, but pushing his own vision further.
I think there are more in works, and man is probably as active as he ever was, or even more active?!

It is very exciting to witness another golden age for F&V in real time.

One older release that deserves more attention is Tongue Kiss Hematoma. The project came and disappeared around the same time as the bands mentioned on previous page. At first the vocals felt a bit too weak, but I found myself coming back to it. Well crafted and the way sounds flow to each other is highly enjoyable. The whole album is still on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSjYrBXUrh4

Interesting note on Discogs "All UK Division copies (100x) destroyed purposely due to content." Because of the cover collage and themes of abuse? Unpleasant for sure, but also doesn't look like anything illegal...

Hakaristi

Always assumed that project was related to Wonderland Club / Hymenal Opening.

Doesn't sound like a legality issue, but rather a deliberate choice on the label owners behalf (personal conviction? life changes?). Still slightly confusing as they co-released Scatmother's Flowers of Maltreatment the year before which treads similar territory.

It might have also been a HMRC/Border Force intervention too that was outside of their control? Who knows...

Hakaristi

True, it was only the last part of the submission notes that lead me to that presumption, could have completely misinterpreted.

Interesting, I've always thought it was more related to Hagen Verkhaner, always thought of it as a precursor to Cervical Smear...I guess I always assumed it was his project, based on the collage style cover and the selected samples used.

Hakaristi

Makes sense when you put it like that, even the track titles sound more like his usual style. Not sure why I've always associated it with the aforementioned artists. A collab is another possibility...

Will CB have any copies in the distro?

Possibly. I'd like to take some copies in the distro, but this month has been a bit challenging.

That's good to know and explains why I like that CD so much! Jacob of Wonderclub Club/Bacteria Field posted the Tongue Kiss Hematoma CD cover on his Instagram last night so he must be lurking haha. I'm taking that as his response and confirmation.

While talking about Jacob, the Hymenal Opening CD on F&V is an absolutely monster. One of my favorite releases in the catalogue and one of, if not the best, Hymenal Opening release. The harshness and filth of that project is unmatched.
