as the tournament progresses and pure fandom declines, so pure hooliganism declines.
no likely fun in the semis or the final.

clearly underdogs (Iceland and Wales) undermine the true nature or the sport.

Well Welsh football has traditionally had a nasty streak; Swansea and Cardiff both have a pretty violent history on the terraces. But they're all cuddly now, apparently.

Cardiff Swansea, or Wrexham Chester/Shrewsbury.
local rivalries are a given.
the loving the underdog thing is euro related not local.
hope local rivalries continue.

I don't just mean locally, they both used to like to take their antics on tour. And I'm sure there were plenty of those types out in France.
