i definitely do not know for sure who's in dominator, i'm just guessing! i i didn't realise it was such an open secret, but then i'm not at all in with the dirter, cold spring, etc crowds who'll obviously know what the real crack is.
dominator is definitely a parody act. i'm not saying they are just a joke band and that's it, but it seems they deliberately set out to create an ultimate over-the-top 'more whitehouse than whitehouse' cliched power electronics group, and used those 'bloke down the pub' pseudonyms so no-one knew who was really behind it so they could have some fun and do anything they wanted with it, which (as simon/hongkong said) included putting out press releases claiming copious amounts of prostitutes were hired to be used and abused in recordings and that one of the members had died of a heroin overdose, etc. no question it's clearly a wind-up to try and create hype and mystique about this power electronics group that suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the early 90s and which no-one knows in person at all, and basically enjoy seeing how many people fall for it and believe that they really exist as we're told they do!
i've heard all the releases except the 1st cassette. there're all pretty well produced and sound good and do have their moments, but alot of time they just plod along and get pretty boring. on that 1st cassette there's supposedly a live recording from the late 80s ('Live Action 21/6/89') that takes up the entire second side which was no doubt intended to give the impression the band had actually been around for a few years, but as i said, i've not heard the cassette to be able to say if it sounds like a genuine live recording or not, but i'm sure it won't be.
