Any contact with this defunct label somewhere?
Or the email of Mick Holmes, Vince Millburn or Terry Harper (ex Dominator)?

Thanks in advance!

It was a sub-label of Dirter Promotions. I have the Come Dancing 7" on the label, very strange and silly.

To my knowledge the members of Dominator do not really have those names but maybe someone else can tell the full story.

yes, surely pseudonyms for other folk.

i suspect dominator is robert maycock (psychopath, satori) and either dave kirby (psychopath, satori) or neil chaney (pessary, satori), or both of them. plus, due to the dirter connection it's possible that steve pittis was involved at some point too.

one of the main clues is simply that the first dominator cassette was released on robert maycock's label, and check out the psychopath stuff, well that's certainly getting towards dominator territory :

do correct me if i'm wrong and you know otherwise! i've often wondered myself.

also, i remember dominator was said to have come from newcastle, uk and as someone who is from round near that area i can say for sure they did not.

i always thought it odd that dominator tracks appeared on several of those cheapo cheesey goth type comps on that dressed to kill label which even my dad used to buy!

if anyone has never heard them and is curious too, there's tracks on this myspace page :
https://myspace.com/dominatorpowerelectronics/music/songs

there're basically just a parody of 'great white death' & 'thank your lucky stars' whitehouse, but not as good, and with s&m themed lyrics the content and delivery of which is a bit tedious at times, and comical at others.

Leatherface

This is not a parody, this is just a project inspired by Whitehouse.
Otherwise, each band is the parody of another one...

Alongside Slugbait and Band Of Pain too - Steve Pittis connection again in his role as music biz Arthur Daley type (psst, wanna buy a Stooges bootleg box?)

Personally I would class Dominator as a parody act although the comedy may not be easy to spot for non-British people: the names of the supposed band members are almost stereotypically working class (if there was a fourth member maybe he would be called Wayne Stubbins or something) and their press releases about hiring prostitutes and heroin overdoses were also quite funny. I find the records pretty unlistenable really.

Anyone know what Psychopath sounded like? I remember seeing all of those tapes on Mindscan on lists but never checked any of them out.

I thought everyone knew who is behind Dominator ? It's ONE of the worst kept secrets in PE ....Deffo very routed in humor , even if it is lost on the audience and only for the bands ammusement! Members are names that everybody would know from the UK industrial underground..but I ain't blowing the whistle ...
I think the call girl/prozies stories are true...no heroin involved I wager !

i definitely do not know for sure who's in dominator, i'm just guessing! i i didn't realise it was such an open secret, but then i'm not at all in with the dirter, cold spring, etc crowds who'll obviously know what the real crack is.

dominator is definitely a parody act. i'm not saying they are just a joke band and that's it, but it seems they deliberately set out to create an ultimate over-the-top 'more whitehouse than whitehouse' cliched power electronics group, and used those 'bloke down the pub' pseudonyms so no-one knew who was really behind it so they could have some fun and do anything they wanted with it, which (as simon/hongkong said) included putting out press releases claiming copious amounts of prostitutes were hired to be used and abused in recordings and that one of the members had died of a heroin overdose, etc. no question it's clearly a wind-up to try and create hype and mystique about this power electronics group that suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the early 90s and which no-one knows in person at all, and basically enjoy seeing how many people fall for it and believe that they really exist as we're told they do!

i've heard all the releases except the 1st cassette. there're all pretty well produced and sound good and do have their moments, but alot of time they just plod along and get pretty boring. on that 1st cassette there's supposedly a live recording from the late 80s ('Live Action 21/6/89') that takes up the entire second side which was no doubt intended to give the impression the band had actually been around for a few years, but as i said, i've not heard the cassette to be able to say if it sounds like a genuine live recording or not, but i'm sure it won't be.
