Imminent:

'Grudge For Life: A Book About Ramleh':

Collecting around 356 pages centred on a lengthy and conversational interview with Gary Mundy which looks back at Ramleh's inception and moves through the group's work until and including 'The Great Unlearning' album, 'Grudge For Life: A Book About Ramleh' also includes additional interviews and insight from William Bennett (Whitehouse), Richard Rupenus (TNB), Stephen Meixner (Contrastate), Juntaro Yamanouchi (The Gerogerigegege) and others.

Also includes a Ramleh discography with extensive notes from Gary Mundy, previously unpublished photos and various Broken Flag memorabilia.

Looks pretty interesting but at £13.50 shipping for internal UK mail I can live without it on principle. What a total absurdity.

Edit - I was wrong about this but preserving my initial idiocy for posterity.

EDIT - in a fit of indignant consumer rage and in the light of John's comments I had a closer look into Poland > UK shipping and can indeed see that I was speaking in an ill informed fashion, at least judging from the equally eye watering costs stated by record sellers for large packages where registered air mail seems the norm with no other option. Maybe someone can tell me - is Poczta Polska usually a service to be avoided?

Anyway not to derail, this looks like a decent read and hopefully some copies will shop up closer to home or maybe even an ebook will rear its head eventually.

Mr Klang

Shipping is from Poland (which is cheaper than from the UK) in a proper cardboard book mailer, via air mail. As well as being available directly from the publisher (Adverse Effect) Cargo are handling worldwide distribution.

Wholesale rates via Adverse Effect on 5 or more.

Just pre-ordered this. Looks fantastic! Should make for some nice Autumn reading.
Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song and there's always music in the air.

To repost Richo's comments from the Fourth Dimension Records fb, which cover alla these points...

I'm in the UK too so I'll hang on to buy from Cargo.

QuotePre-orders are coming in daily for the Ramleh book, along with questions I'll address here.
1/ Why no Philip Best involvement? Because he didn't want to be involved, which is his right. He has endorsed the book regardless and of course has his presence stamped throughout by virtue of his involvement with Ramleh.
2/ Can the book be bought wholesale? Yes. Get in touch. 5 copies minimum order.
3/ Why the expensive postage? They ship from Poland and will mostly be going internationally, hence the flat rate.
4/ Will the books be available in (insert name of country here)? I do not honestly know where the books will be distributed to exactly, but Cargo will have some and they generally liaise with Forced Exposure, meaning a certain amount will end up in the UK and US.
5/ Why is it limited? 500 will be published as a hardback edition. I cannot afford more. If the interest is there, a second edition 'might' be considered. We'll see. These things aren't going to be easy to store, either. I'd sooner move on to my next ideas once this is done, but it's all down to weighing everything up.
What else? Of course it'll be torn apart and criticised by some, but to all who do this I say put your own book together. It's not easy. Personally, I'm really pleased with this, though. Everybody concerned has a lot to say and I'd be amongst the first to buy a copy if somebody else had done it!
(And this is the last of the updates I'll post on the subject for a short while....)

From label newsletter 6 days ago:
Quotethe Ramleh book is now with the printer, but most of the 500 have already been accounted for and/or are pre-sold. The best way to guarantee a copy is pre-ordering it. Copies will be distributed by Cargo/Forced Exposure, plus available from some stockists, but direct order is the surest way to avoid missing out on it.

I see this has hit some UK shops now. I'll end up getting a copy eventually but I'm curious if anyone has read it and has any reviews/thoughts?

finally got my order in the states, only to find the books had been wrapped in mere brown paper & sent off. now i have 2 heavily damaged copies & 1 with a broken spine. i know margins are slim, but a simple bubble mailer would have sufficed.

Don't own it myself but it seems like a lot of copies have arrived damaged in some way, going by the customer images I've seen shared on social media. Is thick cardboard really that hard to source in this day and age?
