I hope I'm not treading on toes in the wrong section with this, it's not a release announcement. Some of you may have seen over at Noisefanatics...

http://www.racket-zine.co.uk

As of Sunday, Racket is now online - webzine focusing on noise/PE/drone/doom and other such "anti-social" music.

Reviews so far of Fire In The Head, German, Haare, Josh Lay, Koufar, Moss, Rough Sex Quartet, Vom and Vomir and an interview with Waddiah Rabbiah Chami (of Koufar/Bachir Gemayel/Disgust fame).

I've got a stack of stuff to review and post and a few interviews pending so hopefully regular updates will follow.

I've also consolidated the Dead Wood Recordings releases and distro onto the Racket site as DWR is now on indefinite hiatus. All releases thus far and distro items are still for sale/trade but no future DWR releases are likely.

For feedback, submissions and enquiries, please email to contact@racket-zine.co.uk.

I've also started a Facebook page here for anyone of that persuasion.

Thanks.

Note: I've addressed some initial text-sizing issues but am gauging whether any further amendments need to be made. Any feedback on usability gladly received, preferably with a bit of info about what kind of browser or resolution you're using. Thanks.

I'm using Firefox on a laptop, 1280x720, and experimented with a few different resolutions just to see. Didn't make a difference to the text size which, to me, is very small. Zooming in with the browser does increase it, though, and I tend to do that with other sites anyway.

Best of luck with this, hope it flourishes for you.

I agree with Mr McIntosh about the text size, a font a little biger will be better, is kind of small for me too.
Best of lucks on this, I'll be reading

Thanks both! Will be taking another look at the text/font issue shortly.

In Firefox, Ctrl+mousewheel/touchpad slider up or down will change font size.

Slow progress, reviews are being caught up on so only one new one from Human Larvae up but much of the last couple of weeks have been about rebuilding the site because some fat handed twat (hi!) made a right fucking cocktit of the files offline...

Also for those not on Noisefanatics, reviews of BBBlood, Shift and Vomir have been posted recently. Working with Iron Fist Of The Sun on an interview amongst other things, which is coming together nicely.

Wahwahwah anyway it's all been redone, layout and design has altered hopefully for the final time. Distro page is now back up and to celebrate this and the sun being out, you can grab Martial God Mask - Death's Head C30 for a little more than the price of postage/shipping. This'll last for just under a week and hopefully will be just the first of a number of deals/offers to come.

Thanks.

Racket | Distro & Zine - Interview w/IRON FIST OF THE SUN

I'm very pleased to post this interview up, I have massive admiration for Lee and it was a pleasure communicating with him on this. Much appreciation to him for the time and effort given to all answers.

Lee has also kindly provided an mp3 track which is available to download from the interview. On this track:

"Recorded at the same time as the recording of Behavioural Decline at my old crushing obelisk studio set up, which was part of a much larger complex of lock up's housed in a fucking rundown industrial shithole.

That place was shut down by the fire department due to poor health and safety conditions and minimal fire safety. Located in Handsworth (a notorious area of Birmingham, infamous for its multi-cultural riots in the 80's) I would make the trek into town then walk two miles to the lock-up. Quite often addicts would spray their diarrhoea on the roller shutter entrance! Once past the 7 or 8 sets of home made security doors, the smell of dead rats would hit your nostrils (they used to crawl between the plaster board and get trapped and rot!) In winter it was so cold most of the equipment wouldn't work and I had to place heaters over my computer just to boot up!

Sonically I think this track will surprise many people, a style of noise I'm not normally recognised for producing. I've never managed to find a home for it.

The final track was mastered my Ian Sherwen of http://www.ghosteffects.co.uk who gave the final mix a needed lift and a punchy feel that was lacking in the original.

Dedicated to drugs and rodents and the city."

Thanks,

Rich

Grateful for all the interest in the IFOTS interview and mp3, the response I've had on this is most appreciated.
