Noisecast is shifting more into english language material, it felt like there's a demand for it. So here we are, there was has been requests to translate several of the old episodes, but it's a lot of work. Much better way is just do new interesting material. And what a better way to kick off this new era than a three part Grunt interview. This interview focuses in the themes and visuals of Grunts wide release catalogue. In the first episode we start from the 90's where it all began. We go through the very roots of Grunt through the 90's. Living near Russia border, Tshernobyl, The Balk Wars and so forth.

Reporting in to confess that I (at least) have been waiting patiently for more English interviews!

The philosophical discussion about the nature of digital silence vs. the ever-present hiss of tape was a great topic. A similar discussion was had during Max Eastman's Noisecast interview, hosted by Mr. Aspa: field recordings vs. recording field, and I've never thought the same way about cassette recordings since I listened to that discussion. Rather than "tape warmth" merely emphasizing what is already there, the transformational properties of low-fidelity took on an especially profound quality potentially revealing new possibilities.

It was mentioned that Seer of Decay presents two sides of Grunt for the debut album. Lately on the forum, a discussion arose about noise artists without definitive releases. I consider Seer of Decay the definitive release for Grunt - not as the perfect conclusion, but as the perfect introduction, and precisely because both discs are completely different! Power electronics/industrial noise CD vs acoustic junk metal CD. I would never suggest "Seer of Decay is the only Grunt you need", but rather, "here is a multi-faceted introduction to what surprises may happen should you continue to seek more Grunt", and especially if you consider the many side projects/collaborations... one will likely never finish the puzzle. What a pleasant fate to always have more to look forward to!

I anticipate parts two and three. Kiitos! You made my day.

Thanks for this. Seer Of Decay is certainly on my radar.
