NightsAquarium

Surely the finest contemporary industrial project? Each release focusing on a specific man-made disaster or atrocity, each release featuring a different lineup barring one or two ongoing core members, allegedly.

Irradiated and noxious power electronics, piercing and primitive industrial noise, no-fi ambient and field recording collages, bizarre harsh noise outbursts, crumbling heavy electronics, extremely focused, supremely edited and composed modern classical and post-industrial epics... it all just depends on the lineup of that particular release.

Two new tapes were released simultaneously by Hospital not too long ago, and should be shipping soon enough.

Thoughts on this project, on record or live?

Actually very surprised there hasn't been a topic for them yet! This is probably one of the best to come out in "recent" years. Been hoping to catch them live but there's a close to zero chance of that happening. Though it's been a while since I've jammed either, I consider Verdun and Sarajevo the best in the 'post-mortem' style of PE

Live in 2015 and unmasked.

I believe the Sarajevo tape featured members of Tongue Knax and/or Karasyozoku in the lineup, which explains it coming out on Lust Vessel. Possibly the harshest GoH release, aside from maybe the Sabra Shatila double tape?

Good project but I've never understood this huge hype around them, to be honest, even though the concept is great. Music-wise, I find them quite average/boring, but I'm not a huge fan of this static "post-mortem thing", so it's probably just my taste. I've contributed to organising a show of theirs in Berlin, so I've met them too, and they weren't the coolest people either, but well.
