The new Black Stabbath album, Gamma World, is finished. 16 tracks of gloopy electronics, menacing drone and terrible noises inspired by Cabaret Voltaire, Heldon, Esplendor Geometrico, Vivenza, Fela Kuti, Coil, HULA, 23 Skidoo, SPK, Merzbow, Skullflower, Chrome, Thrones, Throbbing Gristle, The Residents, Suicide, old school skating rink hip hop jams, dub reggae, death metal, 1980s role-playing and tabletop games such as Gamma World and Car Wars, Mad Max, the Road Warrior and other post-apocalyptic trash flicks, comic books, horror movies and assorted day-glo pop-culture detritus. Tracks were made using bowed metals, bowed glass, field recordings from Halloween 2010, a variety of cheap synths and toys, drum machines, computer manipulation, samples (movies, EVP, talk radio, NASA recordings of cosmic events, etc.) and lots of coffee.
