What do current postal prices mean for this kind of thing from now on? Costs too prohibitive? Or just soldier on and charge more?

Seems like special packaging started to slow down a few+ years ago. Europe had higher postage rates long before the U.S. (we've finally caught up) but it still seems special packaging was slowing down but it could have been just me not paying attention.

It really (obviously) depends on what the packaging is. I'm bored with cases and have begun packaging most new cassette releases in something alternative, but have kept in mind the aspiration of keeping weight/size relatively unchanged so that postage is unaffected. obviously sending a wooden altar is a bit more expensive than sending a pile of 7"s, but for (for example) the GROSS tapes any postage difference would I think be minimal. It's more about the effort and outcome.

Cloama - Lernaean Catacomb Complex cassette - Although I originally complained about the packaging in my SI review, once the concept of the packaging was explained to me I have to admit I like it a lot more. The discogs picture doesn't do it justice because once the whole thing is taken apart the lyrics are printed on several different transparent plastic sheets which combine together to form new images.

and most releases on EST have quite sumptuous packaging, like the aforementioned BU boxset.

Also have to mention the SNUFF 2xtape that came out in 2009. 2 tapes in a black plastic case, smeared with bodily fluids and lube, stuffed with ripped porno pages, sealed in a black plastic bag. The package literally stank like menstrual blood when I opened it. Delicious.

I don't remember anything about the Snuff 2xtape. Sounds like it deserves a reissue with photos of the slimy packaging & art.

I had all of the SHF tapes. I seem to recall a S&Q tape with a bondage Barbie Doll & a Richard Ramirez tape with a spike or something? The pig's ear in my copies of the taint cassette are turning to dust..
