Maybe some of you have heard me rant about these recordings elsewhere - but I must truly say, to me these are Contrastate's absolute best recordings. This is a re-issue of their live-recordings for Dutch National Radio, which were previously released in Staalplaat's Mort Aux Vaches CD-series - now with new cover artwork and on vinyl. They held a very special feel overall, something which I still haven't found in any other group to this day - introvert, challenging and humouristic. These particular recordings also had a strong political overtone.

We hope that Contrastate will find some new listeners by making this available again - should you prefer CDs you still can find the CD-version on Staalplaat for humane prices.

I would like to point out that its hard to make a good general impression from these small soundclips - they are mostly there to fill a SMALL hole in understanding what its all about:

Very, VERY nice.  Where was it pressed?  GZ?

I only buy vinyl, d00ds.

Eldorado! Lacquer cut, which (if memory serves me right) I think you prefer, Zeno...

This is superb material! The political messages in themselves might not give me that much, personally, but they help to give the music a very palpable emotional intensity. And I do like music made with strong conviction. The vinyl pressing is also very, very good. Much recommended!

Expecting to distribute this, and re-stocks of most Seger titles in near future...
Cover looks very good. Almost too good! Maybe you should have added the clumsy original logo somewhere in neat baby-blue tones like old LPs, hehe.. It looks little bit like some STONE logo. Finns may know what I mean.

Have only heard "Labour pains of a Thousand Badgers" or what it was called - how does "Regiment..." relate to that album, content-wise? Felt like a very slow rollercoaster of many different styles without actually loosing grip of the whole, quite intriguing... Excedingly British as well.!

"A thousand badgers in labour" - their second album. Hmmm... Even if that album is pretty straightforward I think this work is even more "accessible" - perhaps natural as it was recorded live without too many channels being used. I still tend to think it is quite close in atmosphere, although "A thousand..." would qualify as being a bit more solemn and dreamlike.

Just a small update on distributors - Freak Animal, Second Layer, Malignant, Tesco and Release The Bats should have copies in stock now. Sending out a large package to Hanson later this week with this one + a bunch of restocks.

Molehill, Unrest, Auf Abwegen, Drone, Treue Am Treue and possibly Old Europa Café will follow.

Comments on presentation and sounds welcome.

I've never heard Contrastate but everything I got in my last package from Segerhuva was excellent so this will probably be my next purchase from Sweden.

Very nice release. The sound, the packaging. It's unusual, when dialogue is so clear, and so up-front in mix. Vinyl feels very nice in hand. Heavy and nicely cut. Cover with matte cardboard. Design is top qualitu. All texts and graphics sharp. No pixels & blurs very common nowadays even big releases. No complaints of any kind. And to mention, it is just good. It doesn't need to be "special" in some method of gimmick. Therefore pretty much reaches close to perfection what one hopes LP release to be!

Is Contrastate the act that had that cd-in-a-LP on Tesco? LP center-label hole was cut large enough to house the cd. I remember seeing it but can't remember if vinyl was just for show or could be played.
