Abysse Des Âmes "Todellisuuden Kuvitelma II" tape
Of course not strictly noise, but experimental sound that can get noisy. They had idea to make self published tapes, that are connected to live activity. Live shows are composed and rehearsed and while playing before gig, there exists recordings of the set they will do on stage. This is second tape in the series. Silk screened cardboard box. More free flowing and less hasty than LPs. It has tons of things going on and good progression, but the cut-up approach is less dominant. If one has the LP's, these tapes are good addition to collection!

JUNTA "Arkinen Hysteria" tape
Late 2025 live recordings of harsh noise. Junta material was varied, some of it very good, some not as exciting. This is live noise improvisation, and mostly good stuff. Very much hands-on, hectic, but restrained into sounds they are working on. You can't expect innovations, but feeling of loudness, feedback eruptions, etc, makes tape worth to grab. Nikama screaming voice could have been used more!

Pseudokommando's Small Town Tragedies CD-R is a good one. Finnish school shooters could be a "typical" power electronics theme, yet the only releases I can think of that utilize it are this and Cavader Gutter's Humanity Is Overrated tape. Very stylish layout. The track titles, like "Wumpscut86", refer to three different cases of shooters. The recent live gig featured sharp vocals, but this is mostly bleak industrial sounds with only spoken word vocals on the second track.

Don't let the format put you off! A second high-quality CD-R this year, like Haaska's Selective Breeding. That one has found its way into my CD player surprisingly often.

Pseudokommando's Small Town Tragedies CD-R is a good one.

Agreed! The first track is especially good with its nearly alchemical mix of electronics and distant/atmospheric yet strong metal junk sounds. Raumanmeri 1989 nevö 4get.

Kurluk / Resting Place "Vile Trauma" split CD-R is another good one. Got it at last weekend's fest where they both played excellent sets. Five tracks from both. Kurluk is rough electronic noise, partly rather similar to what he played live. No-nonsense stuff, but I think his tapes were slightly better, possibly due to analog format but I dunno. Cheers for the track title "Baltzar Harem" (also musically the best of the bunch). Resting Place gig was excellent and his tracks here come close. More atmospheric death industrial type stuff with some rough edges.

It is good CDR, but I have also feeling that Kurluk could benefit from tape version! It's good noise assault, yet a bit more saturation would have made it even better. Like his tape, just loud dubbing on ferric tape and I'd be sure it would be little neat extra flavor.

MASKHEAD "Strange attractions" CD
Maskhead is not always gold, but it also can be. Like latest live show, very good! This CD is good, but just like above, I feel that more amplification or magnetic tape saturation would be that finalizing touch that would lift this on level of latest live assault! For fans of filthy Finn noise, of course good as is! Aussaat label tin box, small pressing with new original art by Miquel Angel Martin!

NUORI VERI "Eläköön Totuus" tape
This is live recording from Lahti, feb 2025. Even further lo-fi than tapes. Presents uncut live gig with the speeches between songs and all that. It was good gig, slight imbalance of volumes or such isn't that audible on tape as it was in live situation. You can't detect the "why is this so quiet" -vibes, when... well, it is kind of quiet sound by nature! Piano loops, reel-to-reel rural sound manipulations. Eerie and nostalgic feel, slowly moving. Even if you would have studio versions of songs on some releases, this is worth to hear!
