Siren recently released Sir Ashleigh Grove CD. Mysterious artist only appeared in handful of releases. Some old compilations (mainly on Broken Flag) as well as assistance of The New Blockaders on some of their great live assaults "Live At Morden Tower" and "Live At Anti-Fest".

This CD collected 9 pieces simply titled The Nimply Power Sessions Parts I - VII Audio Memoirs Of A Gentleman Aesthete. Behind project is John Mylotte known better as founder of Metgumbnerbone. What I know of his works, this project appear the most noisy one.

There is great variation between tracks. Some are utterly harsh and screeching lo-fi noise, others dominated by simple rhythms and industrial noise structures, other times very raw synth noises. Overall sound appears like one could expect from 1983 UK "power electronics" era. Very early Sutcliffe Jugend, Ramleh and indeed more rugged TNB comes in mind. Sound is very "flat" and midrange dominated, totally unlike any noise that comes out these days. There is some quality in this sound what totally appeals to me. Nothing heavy and brutal, but disturbing and painful raw screech, clatter and audio-rot.

Totally essential re-issue. Metgumbnerbone site concludes (not sure when exactly it was written) that: At the moment attempts are being made to track down the original album masters & when, if, that happens there may well be a CD edition issued - in the meantime Ligeliahorn (Redux) is available, all proceeds will go to financing the above mentioned retrospective. Well, that was 2002... Not sure whether masters has been found meanwhile....

I was told Sir Ashleigh Grove were members of TNB. (This was when the Le Couperet cassette was released).

My knowledge is based on discogs information. Of course CD itself mentions in discography his work "as part of TNB".

I got this CD today and listened to it twice. It's very good indeed, although the least interesting track is also the longest (it should be 5 minutes long instead of 15). As written above, the whole album has that early 80s crude noise feel which I really like. The insert, in addition, is hilarious.

Listened to this CD today, and if you like some of the things what is said above, it's highly recommended! Personally I like it a lot, thanks for mentioning it.

Good reissue.  The longer tracks are hypnotizing, but if not in the mood, I can see why they'd be painful.

A couple of years ago, a friend visited the Metgumbnerbone guy at his home & reissues was discussed. A cd set of everything released would be really nice to own but, I suspect, it'll never happen. I think I was told the guy runs a publishing company specializing in the occult and/or he has an incredible occult book collection.

I know I have a couple of the BF comps with S.A.G. but I didn't remember the project being so harsh with the heavy synth-type sounds & screaming. I'd like to have that cd on Siren.

On a related note, I wish I had gotten around to ordering "The Curfew Recordings" cd when it was readily available...
