Rather than start a new thread, thought I would hopefully bring this one to life as I'm after the same info. Currently on the hunt for a microphone to record room sounds/metal bashing/feedback after getting to grips with line in recording (to four track, what else...) and getting a basic understanding of what does and doesn't work using that technique. Any pointers/recommendations would be appreciated before I splurge my £££.
