Ortmann has been deeply involved in the Experimental Music world for many years as a Composer, Performer & Curator. In the early '90's he formed the conceptual group Panicsville, as well as launching the Nihilist label, that would become home to a wide range of Avant-Garde International Artists. His work has been exhibited or published across Belgium, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Ecuador, Canada, Israel, England & America.

His first Radio Show was on KDHX (St.Louis MO) from 1993-1995, focusing on Noise, Post-Punk & Experimental. Ortmann has been the host of WFMU's "The Eternal Now" for the last ten years, a podcast dedicated to Avant-Garde, Psychedelic, Electronic, and all things dark and obscure. In addition, he received an MFA in Sound in 2012 (SAIC).
