Self inflicted freak and Britains biggest mouth Porridge has had an unexpected spout of good sense and quit sad reunion act TG. Goodbye nostalgia shit and goodbye TG. You diluted your once respectable catalogue for far too long. One down but still thousands to go. Lets hear it for Swans next.

Hold it now, wait! There's more. The remaining three will carry on as X-TG. Amazing! These people have no shame. Is this the kind of humiliation people enjoy when they get old? If so then kill me before I get there.

I think that GPO saw again when CARTER fucked his COSEY in hotel room before live set. Yes, this reunion as X-TG is funny, total shit, even PINK FLOYD have bigger honour...

GEWALTMONOPOL

At least Pink Floyd charged millions when humiliating themselves in their old age. What does TG earn? Not enough to make it worth the shame I'm sure. I probably come across as angry when I write this (I do most of the time) but I've chuckled over this all day.

Dear Sleazey, Chris and Cosey, kill yourselves before it's too late. Fuck it. It's already too late, just kill yourselves.

This tune sums up the debacle best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8vINCq_IAI&feature=related

One hundred percent agree. The nostalgia cabaret good-old-fucking-days mentality has to die. TG re-uniting to play places like the Tate Modern is beyond joke.

uh sorry, saw swans last night and they fucking killed it. you can talk all the shit you want, but they're doing great now. tg live on the other hand was an hour of bs and 20 minutes of quality music.

Yeah. I did buy the new Swans LP. But haven't had any intentions to buy any of the TG new stuff.
Although barely followed either of them.
World is so full of miserable failures of "comebacks" where it seems clear that the people lost the spark long ago. They may think they do the "same" or "better", but those who actually listen such music, hear the difference?

I like TG's recent output, and I'll probably like X-TG if I ever get a chance to see them.  I wonder if the Desertshore album is canceled now?

How was the new Swans ?
Saw M. Gira few years ago in Tampere and it was complete failure

I thought their show in Philadelphia last month was excellent. Everyone in the band seemed completely confident and at ease with their instruments. It was great to hear revamped versions of their early material too. Tracks from Filth and Cop and I think Holy Money. Loud as hell. However their newer stuff is good but doesn't come close to the early '80s material.

Apparently "s/he" hasn't left TG at all.

Starting to think it's a bit of a wind up.

Show in Bologna , Italy was good . Usual low frequency abuse and sounds from their latest works . Nothing to complain about .

It could be worse... They could be The Rolling Stones.

Rolling Stones got old and boring but they never split up. They also made enough money to never have to work again but have carried on in spite of ridicule and old age. They are a big commercial group who never made any pledges of not selling out and so forth. My assessment is they actually must love what they are doing. No shame in that at all.

TG, Swans and many others quit after big bust ups and bold promises of never again, mission accomplished, we are dead etc. These are underground flagships who in their time stood for something very different to boring rockbands like the Rolling Stones. While me and my teenage friends laughed at the likes of them in the 80's we took comfort in knowing that heroes like TG and Swans would never become that pathetic. Well here we are 25 years later and the reunions just keep coming. Old heroes diluting their once vital catalogues with worthless albums and tarnishing their names with tours where they regurgitate old hits to people whose main excuse for supporting this sad circus is "I never got the chance to see them in the good old days". Then let me tell you you're not seeing them now either. The good old days are gone and this is just a reanimated corpse in front of you, at best an echo of the past, a NOSTALGIA ACT. And these has beens humiliate themselves for a lot less money than Rolling Stones, probably not even enough to secure a comfortable retirement. But so called fans of underground music swallow the same reunion turd time and time again. The saddest thing is people have less time for new groups trying to build something because they just HAVE to see St Vitus next month or go to Supersonic to see Godflesh/Swans and then there's God Speed You Black Emperor at ATP of course. The Rolling Stones aren't a problem. Groups like them don't matter. The problem are the once important underground bands who piss on their legacy and clog up the system. It's a sad state of affairs.
