I'm starting this topic because I'm curious about people's thoughts on newer macronympha(from the last couple of years). The preliminary necrosis CDr on bizzare audio arts is great dense hnw and it seems like that's been their general direction lately, maybe since Leo joined.

antipure

It still has that classic dense layering to it. I enjoy it.

I have to say that I am not a fan at all of their newer works. To me, it all sounds like one dull, muddy, mess and doesn't have the dynamics, composition, and hair-raising textures that the classic Roemer/Stella lineup had.

magnus

I like it!
As good as old stuff? - well, maybe not, but good enough listen.
The 3xCDr "macrocannibalismo" is my favorite of the new ones i´ve heard, with more stuff going on and a bit less static.

The split with Hogra is excellent and offers some variety. The bacteria field tapes are good too, especially "back in the bedroom...". Purulent recollections sounded good from the soundcloud sample and I'm curious to check out macrocanibalismo. While their current output may not reach the heights of the classic material, its maybe even more ominous sounding and very enjoyable

"Back In The Bedroom... Back Inside The Dungeon" on Bacteria Field is awesome. loads of crunchy shit going on, great crushing classic sound.

Translucent calamity is pretty awesome, maybe the best Macronympha ive heard in a while. Bizarre audio arts just released about 10 new macro CDRs in the last couple weeks lol, not sure if they're all good, probably have to pick through the shit. I haven't given any a listen yet, been digging the Calculation Formula box set. Any opinions worth sharing?

Pretty much my exact feelings on the tapes from 2015/16.  That "Live In Portland 2012" LP rules though, helps that Roemer is playing alongside The Rita & Kakerlak for it

The new stuff I've heard was ok, perhaps even good at times, but I cant help but feel it's all so redundant. With approx 30 releases of the old Macro in my shelf, I still have loads and loads to discover from that era of the band, an era when even at their worst, they were still great. The new lineup will probably never even reach the level of the less great old stuff. And with so many younger US noise acts getting better and better, and The Rita and Kakerlak still going strong, why even bother going after those edition-of-20 Macro CDR's. There's just no need or time for me to hear it. But to each his own I guess.
