EXU

Mick Garris Post Mortem podcast is quite pleasant to listen, nice interviews with mostly horror directors, not something very in depth but as I said very pleasant and interesting conversation for horror nerds to play in the background.

Some good ones I've been digging lately
Dark Topic true crime from one guy. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes brutal. Always entertaining

Westside Fairytales horror/dark fiction stories from an ex marine. Listened to 3 seasons in about a week. If you dig Ligotti I think you'll like this

Monsruo short lived podcast from the aformentioned podcastsersplus the dude from sword and scale. True crime from the killers perspective. Straddles the line between fact and fiction. Some lefty snowflakes recently got it shut down.

Those Conspiracy Guys bunch of Irish dudes blabber on for 3-7 hours about conspiracy theories. Long winded but funny.

Horrorhound Radio horror podcast from the people behind horrorhound magazine. Lots of discussion of both old and new horror movies. Pretty funny but informative. One of the guys from last podcast on the left is on it.

Most recently:

Bundyville - Season II - The Remnant - more in-depth coverage that builds on the Bundy-Standoff covered in Season I - this time more about the christian right wing nutjob-spectrum, Aryan Nations, Marble Country and the politics attached to all that - ends in a bit of a lecture but is otherwise rather informative and well made.

Crackdown - monthly episodes covering the drug war from a perspective of the drug user - focus on the Vancouver, Canada downtown east side, interviews with users, lawyers, housing advocates, medical researchers etc. - informative and challenging in a way that makes you question your outlook on substance use, addictions and the layers and layers of politics and governance in a supposedly liberal country.

4 episodes into Hunting Warhead from the CBC - starting to feel a little more voyeuristic than it has to be...

An "investigation" of the investigation into Benjamin Faulkner and his child abuse forum "Child's Play" as well as his personal child rape case.
This is big media tackling touchy subject matter and getting caught in moral/legalistic debates...new episodes weekly.

DSOL

some newer ones I've been into

American Scandal - real interesting and in depth review of some big scandals. each season is devoted to one scandal IE: Iran Contra, Exxon Valdez, Enron, etc

a few different ones about Jeffery Epstein

Espionage - pretty interesting stories about spies during WWII and the Cold War
"I do not get bored of nude ladies nor good Japanese noise"

Fistfuck Masonanie

No Sleep Podcast

Fictional horror short stories narrated by multiple voice actors with original music/soundtracks. Always diverse as they collaborate with multiple authors per episode and the production is really well done. Easy to go down a wormhole. They also do live tours/readings which I would love to catch some day.

Just finished listening to Happy Face yesterday - https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/happy-face/id1434649680

Recommended to me by a good friend - it's about the daughter of the happy face serial killer coming to terms with her heritage and how it has shaped her life/mind/emotions.
At times it's a bit psychology 101 but all around it's great...and also bleak as shit.

NIT

A couple of gems hidden among the mountains of true crime podcasts:

Casefile - no bullshit, no humor or outsized personality, just dozens of episodes of case profiles from the well known to the obscure.

Forensic Transmissions - primary source documentation (courtroom recordings, interviews, confessions, etc) presented as is without explanation or even introduction. A new favorite.

Stop Reading That! By Spatular Gene

Stop Reading That! (formerly Spatular Extremities) is a review show for zines, fanzines, pulp magazines and other literary detritus.

People either seem to love them or hate them but I am still an avid listener of LPOTL.  Factually they are spot on and I find the chemistry between the hosts to be hilarious.  Not everything is pure gold (could do without the Scungili Man) but they have had me laughing harder then I have in a long time quite frequently.  Sword and Scale is great to but way more serious.  I recently discovered that Gilbert Gottfried had, or has, his own podcast and that is just pure bliss to me.  I've delved into a lot of the other true crime based podcasts and most are just tedious at best.  There is a good true crime one out of Norway? I believe called simply "The Serial Killer Podcast" that while it lacks the humor of LPOTL also has some great factual info in it.  Other then that I haven't found much.  The guy's from LPOTL have a whole network now with a bunch of shows that are similar to the main show that seem to be pretty entertaining.  I recently listened to the first episode of Fraudsters which was all about Miss Cleo the psychic and that was quite amusing.  If anyone finds another show with a similar kind of twisted humor as LPOTL please throw the name/link up here.

Unfortunately, only for the Finns...
Finnish language, fairly lengthy interviews from the Finnish underground.
Starts with Black Metal, 2nd part is sludge.
3rd and 4th will be covering neofolk. 5th probably some thrash...

Just the other day I finished American Rehab - from Reveal News:

https://www.revealnews.org/american-rehab/

8 episodes about how addicts going into rehab are used as a shadow-workforce by companies big and small across the US - without pay and protection in a lot of cases.
The podcast also shines some light on the origin of one of the models of rehab - Synanon - and its transformation into one of the above mentioned "recovery-providers" exploiting folks.
I thought this was rather interesting...people in need and under pressure - not only exploited by the prison system but also by "drug treatment through hard labor".

Most recently:

Recall: How to start a revolution - from the CBC - A look back on the October Crisis in Canada in 1970 and the years of militant Quebec separatism associated with the FLQ.
As an immigrant in this country this was something I did not know too much about - an interesting piece about a time of revolutionary struggle/domestic terrorism that was also present around the same time in may other countries of the world. Well done & obviously high budget podcast.

Can be supplemented with:

Nice. I will check these. There's also the 1994 film dramatization "Octobre" that I've been meaning to see for ages.
