Poste Italiane have good news for the new year. The international shippings increase from 2,50 euro to 4,50 euro for a 100/250 grams weight small packet (Europe). From 4,20 euro to 7 euro same weight to USA, Japan and not european places. I'm wondering how's the situation in USA, Germany, UK, Finland etc? You can call it a poll or just curiosity but I think it's a shame an increase of 2/3 euro for a shit service very well know in all the world.

Swedish postage is incredibly expensive. I don't remember the exact costs, but I think it is even more than what your rates are after the increase. The Swedish Postal Service has quite reasonable service, though... But we surely have to pay for it!

The most expensive shipinig is in Poland. Sending a package over one kilo in Europe: 16 EU;
to JAPAN/USA: 25 EU

any questions :)?

Strömkarlen

Nope. Sweden between 1-2 kilos inside Europe 24,46 EURO/outside Europe 29,35 EURO. And if it is a "large" letter i.e. anything bigger than a A4 letter it is another 2,7 EURO.

Matthias

I was so tired of foreign people canceling their orders because of the shipping that i started to charge a maximum of 150 sek (approx. 15 euros) for shipping, label pays the difference. I think the only country with higher shipping rates than Sweden is Norway, but i might be wrong.

It's a good and reasonable point. High postal rates but quality service

If I had a vinyl label I would like to be based in Germany - they have the lowest postage prices to my knowledge, probably due to the country being quite big and people living all over. Maybe also due to German Post being involved with DHL, but packages outside the country are not that cheap.

Good to have the Russian Fund here in Sweden!

Canada has ridiculous rates. It costs more to send one LP to anywhere INSIDE Canada than to ANYWHERE ELSE in the world. $7.77 to the USA, $9.54 world, $8+ - $13+ in Canada (not including the territories, which are $14-$16 to ship there).

We have no option for Media Mail like the USA does. It cost me $45 to send 10 LPs to Macedonia a few years back, and $65 to send 30 9"s to Germany. That's SURFACE mail. Airmail for that package to Germany would have been $115. $25 to send 10 9"s to the USA.

I could go deeper... I've calculated all costs and know what they are exactly for shipping 1 or 2 LPs anywhere. Prices are due to go up again any day now...

Not sure of weight but it's a bit less than $5 for a tape to Europe & around $12-15 for a LP depending on how much extra cardboard you put in for protection. $15 would get 2 LPs shipped airmail. Haven't sent anything to Japan in a long time but prices are, maybe, just a bit more.

1500g 32,20
2000g 41,80

packages
starts from c. 35 euros = 1kg, and gradually up. 30kg = 100euro in europe, 150 to USA, 300 euro to australia.

These are standard customer prices at post of finland.

I run a company, and I got different deals. What I charge (2 euro for any amount of cd/tape/7") is way less than they actually cost me, but necessary measure, just like Matthias mentions. Sending LP's overseas is hopeless anyways.

holy shit! wasn't aware of that... SHIT!

anyway let me say i've almost never had any problems with our (italian) postal system (and i'm an heavy ebay/discogs user and trade a lot too), so i still think it's just a common place to blame it, imho

(only actual and serious problem i've ever had was by UNregistered shit from the US, when it was bulkier than couple CDs and probably marked as 'gift', especially, or even better, exclusively with clothing, some simply 'got lost', read 'parked in the customs and never ever leaved from there', lost some good money because of that.... since i'm choosing priority mail international for that kind of goods, never had any problem again)

That's good to know. I'm moving this Summer and there's a 50% chance I'll land in Canada. It's been up in the air on whether I'll continue the label after the move, but if it's to Canada, this may make the decision for me. I would be in Kingston or Victoria, which would be easy to take my orders with me to New York or Seattle (respectively) - maybe that would be an option, though I wonder what customs would do about it.

GNAWED

this is something i have been thinking about recently.  whould it be more benificial to smaller international labels to order their releases locally from a distro, (i am in the US) or directly from the label?  obviously, ordering from overseas would be more expensive for me, the buyer, but what  about the label?  i suppose it depends on the labels shipping rates, as well as wholesale prices.

Only thing with Victoria is you've got that stupid fucking ferry ride ($$$$$$$$) any time you want to get off the island (aka anywhere else worthwhile in the country). Victoria is beautiful, though, and if you do keep your label going there I'm 100% sure it would be well received.

Got told by last night that the Aust. government is going to impose a new tax on out-going mail up to a certain weight. Which means that mailing a "12 vynal album, for example, will cost an extra nine bucks on the already exorbitant postage we have to pay.
