I've now listened to 16 discs of 18 and I think it's more of a listening box than an archival box, but this is a high-quality release of a previously under-represented artist that's now been properly documented.
It's not the Skin Crime or Incapacitants box, and what is? And not every release is Texas Chainsaw Dopefiend by any means.
Here are all of the releases that I think are more than worth your time and make the box worthwhile:
- David Gilden - Total Headrush
- David Gilden - Self Titled Private Tape (Disk III)
- Sawgasm
- Lingula - 4
- Lingula - 4 Unused Mix
- Depress / Regress - Rehearsal 5/15/98
- Depress / Regress - Last Noise Tape
- David Gilden - Mikadoroid Alternate Source
- Depress / Regress - Bag (Demo)
- Depress / Regress - Root Penetration
- David Gilden - Depress-Regress
- David Gilden - Magico-ritual
There are a few splits or more experimental releases in between these that are OK to good, but there are far more high-quality releases than not. For an artist who was previously lost to time despite a few reissues, it's wild that we have this much material now.
Jim did an absolutely incredible job restoring David's previously unknown catalog which was discussed and on most people's wish lists for two decades. Absolutely unfathomable that Jim pulled this off and made it available to the general public.
I saw posts on the board about this being worked on as early as 2018, and I'm sure it was even earlier than that. Thanks Jim!
