Cranial Blast

Really liking that new North Central - Dark And Abusive CD that was recently released by Phage Tapes. Full of that no fucks given, full frontal crunching heavily distorted harsh noise bedlam from start to finish. It definitely hits the spot and delivers very well!

This release is one of the best I've listened to from this year. It's a great mix of metal objects, jagged electronics and samples. It has a sense of looseness that adds to the intensity.

Dreamcatcher is a band name that doesn't spark any interest for me to check what it sounds like. But now that I listened The Dark Corners, released by Dunkelheit, I liked it a lot. Maybe it felt like those tracks should have been calmer parts between more aggressive songs, but I'm now interested in what comes next. Those other mentioned Dreamcatcher tapes seem to be very limited releases, so I cannot compare to them.

At Harsh Ways Fest III, one fine gentleman slipped me a purple ski mask with a note "DON'T TALK, TAKE ACTION". It contained Dreamcatcher's Liberal Cunt tape, limited to 15 copies. In addition to the mask, it came in a plastic case with a badge. Overkill for a one-sided C5, but fits perfectly with the hateful/bizarre/hilarious artwork.

The tape itself is so short, it's over before it even properly gets going, but pretty good nonetheless! Quite restrained, with muffled vocals and that same kind of empty factory hall sound heard in The Dark Corners.
