Not sure what's in the Texan water but it always seemed a hotbed for punks genre-crossing into fields of psych and noise experimentation. Never was a huge Butthole Surfers' fan though, but more into the sounds of the likes of Cherubs, Scratch Acid, Ed Hall - and most of all the amazing Pain Teens. They had it all; tape loops, sludgy rhythms, Scott Ayers noisy guitar treatments, lyrics about control, domination, kiddie torture, serial killers, and similarly morose topics. "
Stimulation Festival" is a killer album!
There was a Surfers' connection as PT were signed to King Coffey's label, Trance Syndicate.
