Finally got a copy of this album! Not from CMI, though, even though the order was placed and paid for two months ago. No replies to emails... I won't have anything to do with them directly again, that's for sure.
But, I got a copy from Micke in the band. And it's one hell of an album! IRM has developed their sound immensely! Compared to previous albums, this is something else entirely. The 12" on Segerhuva a couple of years ago shows hints of this development, but the album takes everything much further. It is a lot more demanding from the listener. I can't imagine playing this album, while doing something else... it simply does not work as background music (not for me, at least). The sound is very dynamic, with lots of changes between low end passages and more piercing sections. A feeling of menace and supressed aggression is present, throughout the album. Occasionally, things are allowed to burst through, but only for short intervals. Soon, the emotions are bundled together again and the pressure rises...
An incredibly intense album that it takes time to digest. I know I need to play it several times more for it to fully sink in.
Well done, guys!
