Been digging deep in archives and listening to a lot of really early stuff from the 80´s lately. There is something special about those early-mid 80´s recordings. So let´s discuss what is out there - I keep finding new stuff all the time, and I am amazed that it never stops. You think you have heard it all, and then you become amazed over and over again.

So besides the more  well known stuff (SPK, early Laibach, Lille Roger, Korpses Katatonik, early Lustmord, MB etc etc) what is there hiding out there?

My latest find was Chazev. The old tape "Katatonia" was re-released on CD by Narcolepsia in 2020, amazing soundscapes.

The best way to not get lost in recommendations that dont do it for you is to continue like you do, by yourself and that's really rewarding. I think the best way is through compilations of this era. To listen, see what's interesting for you, continue with them, their releases, other comps they took part in, the labels, and never ends. A good starting point is Idealistic Idiot series, and Katacombe series.

To answer the question : Victor/im , Merz , A Violated Body , Stenka Bazin.

Cosign this.  Rewarding, educational, interesting, and practically endless.  Collect them off blogs and make your own playlist radio station.  The dark side is that you'll regularly run into artists and projects that never did anything else.

As mentioned above: old compilations. Also check out collaborations or pseudonyms of some projects/acts.

For example, Victor/Im had a collaboration with Frans De Waard under the name Staalbad. Or check out Pietro Mazzocchin's projects: The New Sadism, Swastika Kommando, Lyoto Music, etc.

I also thought of:
Odal
DMDN
Het Zweet
La Nomemklatur
Produktion
Satori

Just picked up Zahgurim-Moral Rearmament a while back and liked that one. Should scratch the early SPK itch, even the newly recorded material sounded pretty decent.

Phenol

This randomly turned up and has some that disturbing quality of early industrial. I didn't know about them but they seem interesting to dive a little deeper into. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjUk2GS-rSk

Yes, P16.D4 has some good materials in their vast discography.
Currently listening to a CD reissue of the Minamata "Niigata" tape from 1985. Not bad!

This week I have been listening first 6 CDs of the CLOCK DVA box on VOD. Band is challeninging, since impression one may have from Clock DVA depends what era of stuff you heard. This box is 77-80 and basically the experimental / industrial sound, meaning really good stuff. Sometimes noisier and darker, sometimes not... but still good!

There's a lot of good shit from that time, really raw but intense stuff, most of it almost unknown. Of the not-suggested artists so far, I would recommend Capricorni Pneumatici from Italy. I have the self-titled repress LP and Nibbas repress on CD, and both are excellent, raw and bleak ritual industrial from that time.

This thread is great. Thanks to all who contributed  -and keep it coming.

Spent the last week with M.B. - Regel and the Berlinerluft/Pacific 231-split. Both very nice listening experiences (though not M.B. strongest album). Recommended.

probably the pinnacle of early post-mortem?
