Yeah, it's a mass shooting. I believe the FBI defines M.S. as 4+ victims in one location.
I just saw the incident on the news but no details other than the number of victims. It's hard to imagine what would drive someone to shoot everybody they invited over for burgers n' beer during the game. Texans do take their football seriously but this is ridiculous.
And yet, despite that this was a mass murder, it's gotten little to no coverage on the big news stations. Yes, Hurricane Irma is getting her 15 minutes of fame but, c'mon. If this had been at a mall or a school, this would be a big story. If the shooter had been named Ahmed, this would be cause for another war.
Interestingly, Plano is an upscale neighborhood. I'm not sure it's the Beverly Hills of Dallas but it's close. Usually that warrants more coverage in our news here because, well, wealthy lives matter (more)....
Plano has a nice, grim history. If interested, check out the teen suicide wave that hit the city in 1983. Kids were offing themselves left and right and the whole country was all "what the fuck?" It gave rise to TV movies (one with Charlie Sheen and another with Molly Ringwald) and some After School Specials about kids hanging it up.
Between the satanic panic, teen suicide, "this is your brain on drugs", and of course Crucifix, Discharge, DRI, Fear, etc...., I miss the '80s.
