My good friend works at a local vinyl pressing plant and last week he was pressing the first ever vinyl version of the Eraserhead soundtrack! Keep your eyes peeled for that. I heard the test press and it sounded better than ever!!!

There's a vinyl sndtrk of "Eraserhead". I've had it for a long time. It's good but I've never been a huge fan of the film.

enmity

Near Dark (tangerine dream)
All the Tetsuo movies Iron Man, Body Hammer etc.
Donnie Darko (I know this is now experimental but the best song soundtrack ever imo)

Oh, my bad. I asked him again about this and he said it is a part of the first Lynch soundtrack collection on vinyl. I think 4 LPs. I likewise did think too much of the movie, but the soundtrack is great!

Ajna has a few copies of Jean Rollin soundtrack cd's released by a UK label maybe called Finders Keepers. Also released as 10"'s which I'll be getting soon.

The same label is releasing the sndtrk for POSSESSION on vinyl. Here's the url for preordering in the US: http://www.b-music.us/
This url is for the rest of the world: http://www.finderskeepersrecords.com/

The Akira soundtrack is amazing.
Also on a "greatest unironic use of the orchestra hit synth preset" tip, The Terminator. Some tracks on that one sound way ahead of their time.

Angel's Egg and Night on the Galactic Railroad are two great anime movies with different but similarly atmospheric/dreamlike soundtracks. The Angel's Egg one to me sounds like it has quite a bit of Penderecki influence.

I'm not sure the music is actually in the movie but everytime I've come across the song, it's associated with the film.. killer either way.

I love Bernard Hermann's scores. "Vertigo" particularly. Such a desperately beautiful soundtrack. I see John Carpenter has been mentioned a whole bunch. I love all of his stuff for Halloween and Escape from New York. Goblin's Suspiria is good fun. I know they're not actual soundtracks but I love early Zombi and all of Demdike Stare.

Watched The Shining again last night, reminded of how good the score is. Especially the parts with the loud, heart-pounding sound and combined with those tense strings/synths. The score is almost the creepiest part of the movie.

One of my fave LPs. I came across a copy at the Austin Rec Convention years ago right after talking about it with someone. Just started flipping through a box & there it was!

The 10"'s for Jean Rollin's REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE & FASCINATION are very good. All the vinyl I'm lookig forward to this year are soundtracks: THE BEYOND, HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY, LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE, POSSESSION, ZOMBI 2 plus a couple I can't mention here...

Half Aborted

Wedding Trough AKA The Pig Fucking Movie is a 70s Swedish arthouse oddity with a really bizarre garbled organ soundtrack with lots of tape manipulation. Eri Eri rema sabakutani actually features noise as a plot point as well as soundtrack and has Masaya Nakahara of Violent Onsen Geisha in a prominent role!
