I took weapons classes when I was into martial arts when I was a kid, so I at least know basic things, like never slash, always jab/stab, etc.

Ashley Choke

Yeah slashing should be kept for machete sized blades I guess. That's what I've been training most actually. Pretty damn fun

Ive had a interest in the Karambit for a while now, slowly learning the fighting style to use it properly.

Im fond of this style of spanish folding knife called navaja http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navaja

I just thought it was pretty but apparently its a known fighting blade

ANDROPHILIA

Tipical knife of my land. The venetic rural region around Venice.
It's called "britoa" .

P-K

Böker Cop-Tool (mass production version of Wilson Tactical design, other steel, less expensive)

not an edged weapon but a tool (seems laws in Belgium are only applied on switchblades & daggers, all other knives depend on 'intended use' or something like that)....

4,5cm serrated blade, chisel/prybar/scraper tip, cord cutter, glassbreaker. very strong. Leather sheath sucks can buy good kydex ones online.

Great thread Keith!

My dad has one of this:

Sardinian "pattada" knife, available in several sizes, used to cut sheeps and pigs throat.
You definitely cannot walk around with this, although all sheperds have this.

I have a leatherman at home and some similar knives.
I plan to get a real Swiss army knife -they are quite cheap where I work.

used to have several knives of different sizes, but go rid of them once I moved to Uk.

A friend of mine purchased a nice set of knives made of a plastic material (possibky Kevlar?), that cut like hell and are not seen by metal detectors.

I had several bayonets.
two German ones from WWII, one from WWI, but the nicest one was a kalashnikov bayonet that was a real work of art:

In Italy you can carry around a pocket knife if it is maximum 3 fingers of length.
Thing is even with such a site, if you get into troubles with the cops, even if you don't use it, you may be accused of carrying an improper weapon.

here in Switzerland I ithink is different, everybody has an army knife, you can buy them also in supermarkets:

I like the looks of the bottom two Spyderco knives but I could not find them on their site... One looks like it says "Gomez" but that word turned up nothing on the site.

This looks like a fun toy:

This looks good especially the grip:

Those two are dead sexy mate. Very hostile expression. Especially sombre design on the TOPS knife. Just plain mean. Affordable prices as well which is a big plus. I was looking at the Spyderco knives in question myself, though the top second. The image is two small for me to make out any title. I also checked their page, but am starting to think maybe these are original Spanish knives (see Kettu's post above). Not sure though. Regarding the CRKT knife and grip. Very good, probably stable in the hand, but no good for knife action. Might fit more in one hand than both. Grips also limit stab opportuniotes from various angles. IF you want to cut some beef, this COLD STEEL TI LITE ZYTEL pucker could come hard and fast in handy: http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/26SP/TI_LITE_ZYTEL_HANDLE.aspx Works great in both hands, and you can partly use it as a blunt instrument.

Another decent article about surviving knife attack

http://blog.suarezinternational.com/2014/10/surviving-a-knife-attack.html

Done some knife defense training, and all I can say is that based on that my personal take is that I'd rather have someone point a gun to my head than attack me with a knife. Bare hands defense against that under stressful realities – fucking hard.

As explained almost at verbatim here:

Cold Steel is my favorite knife company. Affordable, high quality, & razor sharp. One of these days, I'm going to buy one of these:

Very good video. I guess the best defense against the knife attack is running. Otherwise it's more or less theoretical speculations in ideal situations as this happens in most of the trainings of knife defense etc. Here is one funny one from Lithuanian "soft self defense system" school https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INCuRL-H_cs
