I was searching if there was a topic of new heavy electronics groups, but couldn't find it.
KEVLAR "Totalism" tape came out while ago. Just got it couple days ago and already few times in tape deck. To me, this project belong among best of the new bands what clearly belong to style we could call
heavy electronics. Not so much of ripping noise and improvised elements. Great skill of actually making interesting sounds, creating songs without being "music". Not just some random oscillations behind screamo vocals, but clearly spending time on detail. Spoken samples, processed shouted vocals buried in mix. Rhythm loops, what are never indicating of "dancy element", but cold mechanical patterns.
It appears they never rely on purely "pre-set synth" type of stuff. Seen so many boast with owning MS-20's with total inability to create anything you couldn't do in 2 minutes of trying out buttons. These guys seem like spending time on details of frequencies, types of distortions and creating patterns beyond most obvious square-wave buzz. Compared to many of the older German bands, KEVLAR has slightly same kind of fuzzy and electric sound like Shift, while musically it's certainly different.
If one has not yet grabbed this or even "Criteria" album, I'd recommend strongly. I think new tape would be even better than album before it?
Some self promotion, easy to listen some sample of LP in new FA store, heh...
