That new Hawkwind album was surprisingly pretty damn good, only listened to it once but I was actually pretty impressed!

Yes, it's really good one!

old fart says no hawkwind after quark... is worth it.
been there, seen that, heard that as well.
honestly, this is true.

Huh... Too many good records/tracks after "Quark...". Especially "Electric Tepee", "It Is The Business Of The Future To Be Dangerous" and "Alien 4".
Blasted "Take Me To Your Leader" yesterday and I like it a lot. Can't wait to get that cd/dvd. It was damn pricey (39e shipping included) but it will worth.

Cool to see someone else being into the later Hawkwind stuff. I just got Xenon Codex LP a month or so ago and although the production is pure 80's there's some killer songs in there.

Also I thoroughly recommend Helios Creed and Farflung for more of this kind of stuff.

Is new Rat Life as good as old Rat Life?

Better ! OK, not fair to compare a release i have listened properly with one i have listened only on YouTube, but the new Rat Life is faster and wilder, more energy.

Ah that YouTube floating about is actually pretty clear, and a reasonable enough representation of it compared to the 12" I have. This is really good news - I've been on the brink of ordering a copy of the new release for some time now. I loved the original Ratlife enough to buy the fucking t-shirt and get it shipped out here to Australia haha.

Agreed! Helios Creed, especially the old stuff, and Chrome of course are amazing as well. I don't think Chrome really hit their stride until Helios joined. Alien Soundtracks and Read Only Memory are so very good...

Can kind of agree that after Strangeness, Quark and Charm..that they weren't the same band, some of the 80's era stuff makes me feel like I'm listening to Toto sometimes but it's still pretty good heh. I just stumbled across a cassette copy of the Xenon Codex and picked  it up immediately! One of the best later Hawkind lp's definitely.

The info on Dis-Cocks is pretty spot on:
https://www.discogs.com/Ogdru-Jahad-27th-March-2011/release/3102954
https://www.discogs.com/Ogdru-Jahad-26th-April-2012/release/4056140

So yeah, rehearsal/live tracks from the LP. Definitely not new songs as the album was made after these.
