Derailer is a physical modelling system built from 3 basic elements. Strings which can be plucked or bowed, metal bars which can be pitched or act as resonators, and nonlinear springs which can be used to connect resonators together to form a network.

agreed
grabbed the demo & played with it for a while
the range of sounds one can get seems somewhat limited due to the nature of the instrument
but the sounds themselves are very, very nice
for dark ambient / drone / industrial soundmaking this thing is just what the doctor ordered

btw, the dev also has physically modelled plate & spring reverbs

I don't think anyone's mentioned the Jack Dark / DarkWare VST plugins yet. All of them make horrible noise and are pretty ridiculous to use. It takes a lot of exploration and experimentation to get a good sound out of them, but they're fun

Here's an example that someone made where they hard-panned a dry signal on the right and wet signal on the left

Ok this looks fun. can't justify paying $200 to make jet engine noises tho https://www.boomlibrary.com/sound-effects/turbine/

one thing that i have been taking for granted for a long time is that in reaper it's absolutely no problem to use older 32-bit vst's, whereas other programs dont even "see" them on your machine... and recently was very nice to notice that bitwig does this too. i dont know anything about coding/programming, but if some programs can do it, but most don't, i find it strange that its not a standard
