All Are Guests in the House of the Lord - This Kevin Drumm collab is fucked up good.  It is absolutely bewildering how well these 2 work off of each other here.  I'm not sure what possessed them during this recording, but its edition of 1000 pressing means you can spend the $7 to go and grab this. 

An amazing album and probably my favorite Kevin Drumm material.

Was listening to the Prurient split with Agonal Lust based on Taxi Driver, and thought to myself: is there any theme Dominick couldn't touch his music? From the more obvious and traditional apporach dealing with war and sex, to mysticism, God, gardens, death, serial killers, mirrors, flowers etc. Consistent musicianship whilst exploring fresh territories, always. The first four full lengths - The History of AIDS, Troubled Sleep, Black Vase & Pleasure Ground might be my favourites.

Prurient exclusive gig in Germany announced (Tower Transmissions). One could assume it might be exclusive not only for germany, but Europe in general, since there hasn't been many opportunities to see him play in recent years! Looking forward this!

As far as diversity of sound and concept goes, I reckon only Controlled Bleeding and Merzbow have Prurient beat. Only Prurient, on average, has a much stronger sense of quality control.

How do you feel about Fossil and the Prurient / Akitsa split? Those came out smack dab among all the albums you mentioned and, for my money, are among his strongest. Immensely ambitious and detailed records.

With regards to his more atypical records, I have come to quite love Noise For Halloween Night, and all its deliberately trashy, campy juvenility. The soundtrack to killing cats on Halloween night in your parents' backyard. The Gummo soundtrack meets Hliðskjálf. "Choir Of Vampires", even if clearly tongue-in-cheek, is one of his finest.

I would be very surprised if any other industrial / noise festival this year assembles a better lineup than TT. Can't wait.

Both albums showcase the idea of "Prurient as a band" which Fernow occasionally indulges in, (also see: Rainbow Mirror, Unmasking The Insect, Black Table With The Two Griffins Attacking, the Bermuda Drain-era live shows) and the band includes Bryan Gilroy of Viodre, and a pre-Alberich / pre-Ash Pool Kris Lapke. Just based on that pedigree alone, I reckon any self-respecting noise maniac owes it to themselves to own those albums, even if only for the historical significance.

It doesn't hurt that the Akitsa tracks on the Akitsa / Prurient split are also quite killer, leaning firmly into the degenerate rock side of the band and picking up where GG Allin's Suicide Sessions left off, and leading to (the absolutely flawless and inimitable) La Grande Infamie.

Picking up Lily of the Valley/Return of Happiness today.  I think "I Have a Message for You" is probably one of the more "iconic" entries in this more song-driven end of the project.  Still holds some damn good power behind it too. 
The rest of this tape though?  "Seductress of the Nightingale" might be the only other highlight for me here.  Starting to realize that the PE that leans more techno from Prurient is really a hit-or-miss, track-by-track thing for me.  Not sure what synth Dom uses to get those cleaner leads from, but it can verge on a little irritating after a while.  Funny thing to say there, as I hear piercing feedback Prurient and am not bothered at all; hah.

I just picked up Prurient - Black Table With Two Griffins. That's a been a great listen! It's got some interesting ambient types passages throughout, kind of like Class Ring was a little bit, but a lot more aggressive. Thematically around Jeffery Dahmer.

The first four full lengths - The History of AIDS, Troubled Sleep, Black Vase & Pleasure Ground might be my favourites.

Prurient was off my radar for some time, but I Listened to these 4 old favorites over the last few days. Black Vase has good parts but feels uneven and was the only one that disappointed me after years of not hearing it. Love the mostly pretty short blast of Troubled Sheep that sounds like a drilling machine is present in the background the entire time. Pleasure Ground combines all the good elements of the other 3 and is truly the superior album.

Also listened to both collaboration LP's with G.O. Really liked Carte Blanche when it came out and I still do, but it mostly feels like a regular G.O. album. Lots of samples and layers of heavy synths. Maggots starts out great with a filthier sound and some murky beats in the background. More Prurient, less G.O. The 2nd half I found it harder to hold my attention, but still a nice record.

Up next are And, Still Wanting and Cocaine Death. 2 favorites of the evolved Prurient. I also found the Baron's Chamber on my shelves and have no idea how this one sounds but there's a nice recommendation at the beginning of this topic which mad me curious.

After that I start with the 7"s.

Well, I suppose that my fav Prurient release is Casablanca Flamethrower, which plays as I type, because... erm...this is my very first Prurient listen. 😳

I know from Prurient readings that this one divides many fans.

75min of "doom" might be too much in one sitting? Too many forgettable ambient passages inbetween the "songs"?

Well I'm really enjoying the flow / mood of this, one-third in. The substantial CD artwork points to this being a concept-album around WWII horrors.

This seems to have been recorded 2016-2017 but was released 2020. I wonder why the delay?

I feel a great variety here - electronics - voicings. Nothing seems to repeat itself to my ears.

Two-thirds in this is still flowing so perfectly for me. Nothing has lost my interest. I already know that I'm going to spin this very often.

Bleak, ominous, very well paced and produced. A massive achievement, imho.

My fav Prurient!

I'm really enjoying my first redo of this. Fuck, it's great. But I thought to myself "There's a lot being said. I can't make most of it out. I'd love to know the lyrics." The substantial booklet that accompanies this indicates:

Pleasure Ground reissues on CD, tape and vinyl are now live on the Hospital site, as is related merch. Quite wild to think that record is 20 years old.
