Experimental / noise releases you have listened the most

I don't recall there has been topic of this approach. People often have opinion what is the best album of specific artist. Or which are the best artists, but this may not be the same as what are albums you have listened the most.

It may be effected by some kind of "peer pressure" - as most tend to know what releases one could be expected to appreciate. Perhaps not necessary to have topic of "lets list records again", but something more commented.

I'm fully aware, that releases people have listened the most, are often the early stuff they get. How to hell could new tape compete with release that you got maybe 20 years ago? Especially if back then you got 1 release a month, and later on perhaps 1 a day, hah..

For me it is quite easy to list handful of releases that are listened a lot - since they get to playlist all the time over the years.

INCAPACITANTS "Ministry of Foolishness" CD

Many people often say As Loud As Possible is the best. Of course its good. So is Opererue, but Ministry of Foolishness just is the CD that I have listened way more than those two. Would I necessary list this as absolute best Incapacitants... maybe not, but something in it's heaviness and fullness makes me listen to it more.

THE HATERS "Ordinarily Nowhere" CD
One quite annoying song, but otherwise absolute top listened noise releases. In some ways In The Shade of Fire may be "better", but when I think of The Haters, and want to listen something, unless there is something new I didn't hear yet, I tend to always return to this CD.

THE GEROGERIGEGEGE "Senzuri Power Up" CD
Release I never get tired of. I don't rate Tokyo Anal Dynamite or such very highly, if compared to this. I can put this on CD player any time and be amazed how great it remains.

CONTROLLED BLEEDING "Phlegm Bags Splattered" CD
Again one of the things that this happened to be 1st CD I bought from Controlled Bleeding. Even after getting old Knees & Bones stuff or hearing some supposedly even further developed CD of same sources, this one remains favorite as well as item where I always return.

COME AGAIN II
There are a lot of great comps. Not long ago I was listening once again Noise Forest, but even that CD ends up to CD player way more rarely that Come Again II what never bores me.

GENOCIDE ORGAN "remember" 2xLP
Album that is so often talked about, so quite useless to talk in length. It was in endless rotation then, and still today many tracks gives me shivers to listen.

PAIN JERK "Thrashware" CD
People have praised other Pain Jerk titles quite a lot, yet for me none of other things - not the tape before, or the CD's after this, are listened as often as this.

SUTCLIFFE JUGEND "s/t" CD
Susan Lawly CD, so much of absolute favorite tracks. Packaging of Pleasure Corpse bootleg LP is more exciting. WSOTG set or sampler CD amazing. But nevertheless, this is the CD that is most likely to return on CD player.

THE GREY WOLVES "Catholic Priests Fuck Children" LP
Especially A-side, it's something that I can just raise the needle back to beginning and give another spin...

MILITIA "New European Order" 3xLP
Three LP set could be assumed to be format that doesn't get listened that many times. But as opposed to many box-sets, this certainly is one of my most listened industrial albums of all times. While mCD is even more solid, I must have listened this vinyl set countless more times than flawless 20 minute mCD.

CON-DOM "All in good faith" CD
In a way, I appreciate Sermon series more as musical pieces. I appreciate "8th pillars" as conceptual sound & uniqueness of it. Color of Man's Skin presentation as double vinyl CD is probably more exciting than the standard jewelcase CD. But all that said, it's All in good faith I must have listened way more than any other Con-Dom!

DEATH SQUAD "Theological Genocide" CD
It's not album I often remember to praise enough. I was such a fan of the early tapes, but when this came out, it felt like entirely new level of works. Perhaps Death Squad progressed even further with originality, conceptual depth and such, but none other album reached the amount of listening times as this.

will have to add few more a bit later. Now it seems to be good time to listen some "New European Order"....

Strangecross

tapes:
Hollow Bush - negative line the art is one thing that always draws me to this, is that Stella in the bush? for a long time  was the only hanson tape I owned, it has such a strange atmosphere to it.

Filthy Turd/Smegma Squad mostly for the Smegma Squad side, but FT not bad. similar atmosphere to the Hollow Bush

Korpses Katatonik ‎– Subklinikal Leukotomy Aphrenia Spasmophilik Lyssophobo Asphyxia Sinister Lethal Anorex have had this tape for only a few years but the mood is always right.

Bob Marinelli/Outermost go to for almost annoyingly harsh long cassette

CDs

Deathroes - Hatefuck
Gelsomina - Disease with a Purpose
VA - Beast
Stegm - Stench of a Coward
Contagious Orgasm ‎– From The Irresponsible Country Sounds

Vinyl i dont listen to nearly as much so hard to compare it to the other releases but would be: Grunt/Taint - Schoolyard Bruises, Macronympha/Grunt - Eye for an eye, and Genocide Organ- 虐殺機関
well except The Haters-Cultivating Calamity so many listens

This is a great topic!

My default, hopefully not "contrived", go to records would be:

Wolf Eyes & Anthony Braxton - Black Vomit: To me this is not only a dream meet up, Anthony Braxton truly getting to play as out as possible and Wolf Eyes in great form, but everything that "avant garde" is supposed to be in my mind. People listening to each other, enjoying what they're doing, working outside their comfort zone, and genuinely working at something. If I had the resources to run a "real" label the first thing I would do would be license this for an LP reissue.

Nikudorei - Genital Torture: Noisecore? Noise? This is one of the weirdest records I own and so off the wall. I never get tired of it. And the cover has a dick being sliced in half. What's not to like?

Merzbow - Pulse Demon/Venereology: Something about these two Relapse titles, maybe not even my "favourite" Merzbow but I'm always drawn to these two maybe because they were some of the first noise records I ever owned, pretty sure I ordered these with my moms credit card calling the 1800 number and speaking to the mail order guys (are they going to call me a poseur?).

Brutal Truth side of the Bastard Noise split LP and CD: I can't tell you why I like these "control room" noise Brutal Truth tracks so much. They're hypnotic, really unique, I'm an unabashed BT fanboy to begin with and these tracks are so wild. I kind of wish they had gone the Bastard Noise route and just made noise records after they disbanded.

The Rita - Skate/Snorkel: Default The Rita record for me. I like all of it but this is my go to. Perfect length, great concept, I think I own like 60-70 Rita releases but this is the one I gravitate towards.

Kevin Drumm - S/T: I remember getting this CD reissue from Mimarogolu after having bought a bunch of other Drumm records - this one is the most challenging which is why I go back to it so often - it's one of those noise records I've listened to a hundred times and still don't totally "get". When that double LP reissue came out a few years ago that really was a revelation - so rare to see an LP have that much effort put into it. And I think that started me re-listening to it a lot more.

Smegma - Nattering Naybobs of Negativity: Pigs for Lepers might be the "crucial" Smegma jam but this one is my favourite. Basically because of "Mouthful of Rubber" which is basically the jam I would play if I wanted guests to leave my home. This one rips, so hard and I've yet to meet a Smegma record I don't like. I also love the collars with Wild Eyes and Jazkammer.

St. Francis Duo - all three LPs: these duos of Stephen O'Malley and Steve Noble are all so great. I think this is the most interesting thing O'Malley has been involved with outside of Burning Witch. And I'm no Sunn O))) hater but I'll be the first to admit they haven't done much after Monoliths and Dimensions I've thought has been worth a shit. But hey, these are great. Noble RIPS on the drums and the guitars are wild. I hope they do more together. I'd buy anything they put out.

Incapacitants "Burning Orange" / Hijokaidan "Polar Nights Live" (Pica Disc): I got these, probably again from Mimaroglu and it was around this time all I was listening to was noise - these just came at a time where they were so crucial for me and they got tons of play - simple, well done CDs of great live sets. It was also around this time I was broke as fuck saving for a house and wasn't ordering a lot of records so every CD has to be super special. So I wound up scooping up a bunch of Hijokaidan and Incapacitants records soon after that we're really crucial and also on heavy rotation - as well as the next year being able to shell out for that Incapacitants box on Pica Disk, Government Alpha box, etc etc etc. These were the records that truly solidified my love of Incapacitants and Hijokaidan.

THE RITA HN

When I think about my go-to releases thrown on the most frequently, even when now buried in classical ballet vinyl:

OVMN - Throbbing Pulse
ULTRA - Roman Holiday
DEAD BODY LOVE - Low-Fi Power Carnage
IUGULA-THOR - Opera
WOMEN OF THE SS - John Zewizz Presents His Infamous...
PRURIENT - Cocaine Death
CON-DOM - Colour of a Man's Skin
SUN-RA - Atlantis
BRUNO COSSANO - Saffo's Pleasures
CALIGULA031 - Slavetrade 2000
TAINT - Savage Weapons
BLACK LEATHER JESUS - A.N.T.I.
INCAPACITANTS - Operorue
WHITEHOUSE - Great White Death
THE SODALITY - Beyond Unknown Pleasures
SUTCLIFFE JUGEND - When Pornography is No Longer Enough
ATRAX MORGUE - Woundfucker
DEATH SQUAD - Death Textures
MXM - Flesh Biting...
MAUTHAUSEN ORCHESTRA - 2nd Movement

Baglady

INCAPACITANTS - Operorue CD
What it lacks in the higher frequencies it makes up for in the mid and lower. Actually "lack" is the wrong word here. Full bodied! My favorite of theirs, and I play it at least once a week.

MACRONYHMPHA - White Music CS
My brain says this is not their best, but my stomach does. Crunch!

CON-DOM - The Eighth Pillar CD
I used to listen to this on repeat in headphones when I worked in a chainsaw and lawnmower factory. Original, grandiose and quite unoffensive power electronics.

TOMMI KERÄNEN - Moon Over Torrelorca CD
A beautiful monolithic drone masterpiece. There's so much hidden in there. An album that keeps giving, and it has me coming back for more very frequently.

REGIM - Dedicated To Oskar Dirlewanger CS
Deceitfully simple and effective harsh noise. Cajani really found a style and sound of his own with Regim, and he perfected it on this cassette. Should this ever get reissued, I'm sure it would rise to classic status.

MONDE BRUITS - Portuguese Man-O-War CS
Another very full bodied and beautiful recording that just gets better and better.

KAKERLAK - Reproductive Activity Rhythms CS
I have tons of quite rare tapes from Throop, yet it's this very common thing I play the most. One of the best harsh noise recordings of the second millenia.

THE CHERRY POINT - Smog City CS
While I think it's way too short, its short length is probably the reason I have time to play it so often. Punch, texture, drama. Brick wall noise.

Peterson

Whitehouse "Twice Is Not Enough" CD (Susan Lawly)
Often denigrated as when they "went soft" but I like the lush, sexy synth tones and see it as a worthy follow-up to Great White Death which competes with this one for most-listened.

Sick Seed "The Great Corrupter" CD/CS/LP (Filth & Violence)
Necessary on all formats due to frequency of use. Hadn't heard anything like it when I first heard and still haven't. Primitive yet "musical." Low-impulsive and high-minded as PE and experimental music in general should be. PE as experimental music rather than subgenre punk fanboy stuff.

Ultra "Delirious Elaborations" CD set (Dom America)
Most of the essential stuff by a project that I feel would open up the minds and ears of more young folks into this stuff if they just gave it a chance. I love that they achieved through atmosphere and actual instrumentation (as well as arrangement, of course) what others achieve through technique and presentation.

Absurd Cosmos Late Nite "2016-2017" CD set (Index Clean)
Had this only a year, maybe, at this point, but fulfills so much of what I wanted to hear together before it had occurred to me that such elements could be combined. There's this sort of mundane but mysterious quality. I love the idea of spoken word over strange, ambient sound collage.

Final Solution "Strip Search/Rape Session" & "Do As You're Told/Kill Mode" 7"s (AWB/BloodLust)
I don't normally like this format for PE, not a big enough dose, but here it's justified with some of the most classic PE tracks imaginable. If I hadn't ripped these to my computer, both would be worn out several times over by now.

ConcreteMascara

my listening habits have changed quite a bit in the past 10 years. from 19 to 24, 90% of what i listened to was noise/experimental/industrial etc. and it was constant listening. now it's maybe 25% of my listening a year, and I get to listen to way less music a year than before, even if I'm buying more music....... so many of these most listened records got the most plays back 5-10 years ago, with the exception of: Arktau Eos - Ai Ma Ra 2xCD - probably the single most listened to album in my collection. really just the first CD, the 2nd CD of live recordings doesn't do much for me. but I listen to this almost every single night before bed and during the fall months quite often throughout the day. the perfect alchemy of eastern and western influences; dead and living energies. I've heard this one hundreds of times.

Nicole 12 - Braces 7" - my favorite power electronics 7". "In The Spotlight" is the pinnacle of N12 to my ears, the perfect synth bass, the perfect vocal effects, the insect sounding noise generators, sparingly used scrap metal. perfect! but the whole 7" is A+. Short, sweet and super-effective. Any easy one to keep flipping from side to side on the turntable. and just a side note, for those who haven't heard it, most rips on Youtube and the like are ripped from the record played at 45RPM which is the wrong speed.  So get your grubby hands on the real thing or the N12 CD compilation.

IRM - Indications of Nigredo 12" - for me, the best release by IRM. in part, probably due to its comparative brevity, as it seems all of the best ideas are given room to shine, but not to wear themselves out. I listened to this one almost daily in college for a few years. good music for drug binges and self mutilation. while it's not really in regular rotation any more, i've still probably listened to this 12" more than most.

Jason Crumer - Ottoman Black CD - I don't listen to a lot of straight-up harsh noise, at least compared to industrial and power electronics, but when I have the desire this is the first album I revisit. completely flawless to my ears. it demands to be listened to as a whole and I'm always happy to oblige.

Operation Cleansweep - Powerhungry LP - this one came highly recommended from some people here whose tastes I respect. picked it up 8 years ago as a college graduation gift to myself. at the time it was the single most expensive record I ever bought. but absolutely fucking worth it. maybe its blasphemy but it's probably my favorite Tesco release... "White Patriots" and "Fuck Your Brains Out" are unbeatable anthems.

Grunt - Terror & Degeneration CDr/CD/etc - the album that sent me headlong into all of this shit. where I had dabbled before, after Terror and Degeneration, there was no going back. i used to listen to this one on the bus, to and from work, all of the time. gets my blood pumping to this day.

This thread made me realize (more than I already had) that during the last few years I actually haven't spent a lot of time putting things on repeat or revisiting old favourites, just due to sheer number of new releases constantly coming in to the distro and always feeling the need to check them out.

BASTARD NOISE - Rogue Astronaut CD
Peak BN.

THE CHERRY POINT - Misery Guts CD
This was on repeat for ages when the reissue came out. Now I don't think I remember what it sounds like.

COIL - Scatology LP
First introduction to Coil and was my go-to for years.

DISGUST - Where Angels Fear to Tread CS
The B-side would always kill me.

FLATLINE CONSTRUCT - They Think They've Found the Terror CS
One of the best things that I've been able to release on Absurd Exposition.

IRM side of the Nihil 2LP compilation
Probably not the best IRM stuff but I was always coming back to it.

NON - Blood & Flame LP

THE RITA - Voyage of the Decima MAS CD

WHITEHOUSE - Bird Seed CD
Primitive Isolation Tactics
Scream & Writhe distro and Absurd Exposition label
Montreal, QC

Great topic.

C.C.C.C. - Loud Sounds Dopa: This was the first harsh noise release I heard. It was brand new and my co-worker at the video store had forgotten it in the CD player at work. I rushed out and found it and listened to it over and over. Still perfection to me. Within weeks my co-worker and I had started recording and within months we were tape trading with our heroes.

Incapacitants - Fabrication: Crucial album. I listened to this over and over. Along with...

OH MORO! Vol. 5 VHS: I watched this video over and over. Just fascinated by this scene in Japan.

Come Again II: Another crucial release for me. I listened to this continuously in my car. I had no idea who half the bands were and there was no internet to find out.

The Cherry Point - Black Witchery: Found this release recently and have been listening non-stop in my car. I know it is a compilation of  previously released material, but this is a perfect album to me.

I could try to be cool and name other releases that I love, but these are ones that captivated me over the years and were on loop play.

Soloman Tump

Great thread, with plenty of things for me to check out since I am relatively new to the scene(s).

Absolutely - Powerhungry is one that I listened to over and over, too. Wrote a review at the time for Adverse Effect magazine in which I said something like "...Operation Cleansweep are in the same league as the likes of Genocide Organ, The Grey Wolves, and Con-Dom, only in a higher division." This record is a pinnacle, and "JerUSAlem ain't too far behind, either. Their new one doesn't scale those heights, but hey...

Also, from my younger days when you got a chance to listen a lot:

Boyd Rice and Frank Tovey - Easy Listening For The Hard Of Hearing - having been a Fad Gadget fan, this was the bridge into the world of weirder experimentation and noise.

NON - Blood and Flame Obvious follow on from above, 'Sunset' is still one of my favourite NON tracks.

V/A - A Bead To A Small Mouth - Incredible contributions from NWW and (to a lesser extent) :zoviet-france:

Whitehouse - Never Forget Death - First exposure to Whitehouse, and even more brilliantly brutal than I'd hoped for!

Of course, Genocide Organ's Remember has been listened to an awful lot, too, as well as some of the SPK reissues - probably Auto Da Fe being the one that got most time back in the day, when one HAD the time for such...!

FallOfNature

Coma Detox - both tapes on Nil By Mouth and F&V
Genocide Organ - In Konflikt
Anenzephalia - S/T
Survival Unit - Murder For The Mission
Archon Satani - Virgin Birth
Atrax Morgue - Sickness Report
Bizarre Uproar - Triumph
Control - S/T + Means To An End
Grunt - Europe After Storm + Terror & Degeneration
Nordvargr - The Blood Is The Life
Pain Nail - End Times
Schloss Tegal - Black Static Transmissions

Not including what could also be considered experimental, like some areas of krautrock, nor label stuff that I've listened to hundreds of times and still going.  Before cable TV, computers, and basically any other distractions.  Not uncommon to dig into 3-5 hours of music a night.  The early 90s were truly gluttonous.

Allegory Chapel Ltd. - When Angels Fall 1994 - beautifully composed and produced.

Book of Wisdom - Catacombs 1994 - this is both neo-folk and dark ambient; both of high caliber - there is a grit, or haze, to this recording that has always taken it to another level of mystery and gloom for me - I listened to this a lot, particularly in the fall months.

Chod - Kala-Nath 1996 - I often want to listen to wolves, and this was my go-to; the percussion is an added bonus; hypnotic and relaxing.

Clock DVA - Sign 1993 - a co-worker made me an unmarked tape after we'd talked about 80's punk - for years, I didn't know what either side was, but it was constantly in play on my long drives - this was one side and Zoviet France "Shouting at the Ground" was the other.

Coil - Unnatural History 1990 - one of the greatest anthologies ever put together?

Daniel Menche – Legions in the Walls 1995 - I've listened to early period Daniel Menche A LOT, but I kept returning to this because of the texture.

Endura - Black Eden 1996 - I would play this and Yen Pox "Blood Music" a lot in the fall season and sometimes on repeat out the window on Halloween - Endura was a constant listen for a few years, and this one got me the most.

Genocide Organ - Mind Control 1995 - one of those albums that flows so perfectly that it seems like it is over soon after started - and "At Judas".

Hands To - SFO 1992 - Ben Gilbert/Zabriskie Point label and distro shaped my early years.

JLIAT - 16:05:94 1994 - possibly perfect minimalism and drone; rich and great, evolving depth.

Merzbow - AntiMonument (both picture disc 1986 and CD 1991), Noisembryo 1994, Green Wheels 1995 - I'm a Merzbow baby; my usual go-to noise if I can't pinpoint specific noise I'd like to hear - not sure why AntiMonument has always been such a fancy.

Muslimgauze - Zul'm 1992 - another one of those seasonal albums; late spring to early summer - open the windows, and it is so crisply clear, as if it is all happening right outside your home.

MZ.412 - In Nomine Dei Nostri Satanas Luciferi Excelsi 1995 - I've always thought this album was underappreciated - both the heavy electronics and industrial tribalism are top shelf, though I always wished there was more of the latter.

Nurse with Wound - Merzbild Schwet 1980 - a truly special album that I seem to save for special occasions, or rather, so often is part of special moments that it feels like such; so many great conversations, mental rabbit holes, and experiences have been soundtracked by this album - I used to go winter backpacking in the Porcupine Mountains a lot, which involved a 4-hour night drive across US Route 2 in Wisconsin and up state and country roads in UP-Michigan, and this was a regular listen in the final hour of that trip; almost without fail, I'd see something fantastical and special that melded perfectly within this album; water, food, warm clothing, and this album as necessities.

Organum - Volume One 1998 & Desola 1995 - the bridge between "the underground" and academia, at least I thought - when it wasn't so easy to find Jackman/Organum for decent prices or at all, so having those three records collected was one of the most appreciated discs to happen in years - Desola is one of my favorite 3"CDs and possibly one of my favorite 15 minutes of music of all time; just phenomenal.

P16.D4 - Kuhe in 1/2 Traure 1984 - one of those hard-pushed Ben Gilbert selektions - an album that is so very twisted, and twists my mind to this day - experimental music that changes life.

Smegma - Pigs for Lepers 1982 - I can't remember if this or the Glamour Girl anthology CD were my first full Smegma experience; blew my mind, and the cover freaked me out in a way that I wanted to constantly listen to the record; subconsciously triggering...or something.

Tuu - One Thousand Years 1993 - picked this up on a whim from the Relapse mailorder catalogues, of all places, before they started Release or went to a magazine format - unfortunately, I haven't found much else like it, or Tuu, in the ethno-ambient realm - flutes and various instrumentation creating something between what you'd expect from Jorge Reyes and Steve Roach, but far better than what that might seem.

Voice of Eye - Transmigration 1995 - there were years, and have been periods of time, when I couldn't, and can't, get enough of this album - perfection and a richness beyond explanation - an all-time favorite album.

Yen Pox - Blood Music 1995 - in the same upper realm as the Endura and Book of Wisdom listed above - ushered in a new era of dark ambient fans.

Zoviet France - Loh Land 1987 & Shouting at the Ground 1988 - feeds into my love of nature and a generational fascination and respect for Native tribes and that vibe - I don't know how to talk about these albums, or this group, without it sounding hyperbolic - I could have Zoviet France and none of this other stuff and be just fine.

KK Null/James Plotkin - Aurora 1994 - my favorite outdoor listen - when I worked outside, I would play this after the lunch smoke session - the quintessential soundtrack to bright, warm sun on cool, brisk, and windy days; where do the sounds end and the time and weather begin? - "Lost" has my all-time favorite second of music (the opening second to the track), and the following 8 seconds are nearly as sublime - in my opinion, his "water period" is as great as maybe any other musicians finest period.

EDIT:  corrected a date and added Tuu
