can recommend 'the anatomical venus' by Joanna Edelstein pub as hardback on Thames and Hudson.
similar in style and quality to their other books like memento mori etc, this covers the life-size wax models used in medicine to illustrate organs, nerves, pregnancy, venereal disease and other delights. even touches on more arty/fetishistic aspects of dolls such as real doll, Chapman bros dolls etc.

recall trying to see an exhibition in Rouen back in my topy days that was  part of my whatever, at the time. hope it is still there.
