I don't know if it's me (most likely) or not but I don't find any of this "complexity" or anything so extremely impressive in this new Genocide Organ. I found already "Tipping Point" quite boring, so I bought the new one conscious of this fact in mind but still, a new Genocide Organ long-playing work, too tempting... and I have to say that the new tracks, combined with the "Tipping Point" stuff, sound more interesting, the whole thing has a spooky and haunting atmosphere, and overall it is a decent album for sure, with the classic Genocide Organ's trademark, but - at least to my first plays - it sounds quite "basic" and somehow not really scratching very much below the surface.

It doesn't hit like Obituary of the Americas for me. I've been listening to a lot of their back catalogue in anticipation of Hospital Fest and not immediately grabbed by this new one. It sounds fine but not gripping.

My copy of Death Zone just arrived-based on one listen I think it makes a great companion piece to OoA... slower and quieter in a way verging on the more death industrial but it complements it well sonically and thematically. It will take more listens I think to get the most out of it. Don't think it will replace OoA as my favourite GO album though.

Yes; a strong album, but from the mighty Genocide Organ, it lacks a little something.

GENOCIDE ORGAN "All is suffering" cd
I heard some people say the 7"s of religious fanaticism were underwhelming. I can get what someone means when there is track with traditional synth oscillation and Jonestown samples going on top, hah.. But, despite significant overuse of the Jonestown sample within underground music, it is what it is. Still kind of mindblowing scenario, almost 50 years later. There is more here of course. Anyone who missed the 7"s or who doesn't like format that you need to flip over so frequently, this c. 50 min CD actually reveals how nicely the 7"s fit together and without the flavor of 7" vinyl sound, it is quite different sounding. It is possible that this may be even stronger album that Death Zone, which I liked, but now when you listen 7" material in one bleak session, as opposed to format that kind of requires "hit singles", it really works great on CD. There is not that much of aggressive pieces. Some of that, but more emphasis on bleak and hopeless vibes.

Ther's two new Genocide Organ records coming out in February 2025. One new record, one live record based on the Osaka recordings from NWN! / Hospital fest. Both are available for pre-order now and as usual I would suggest not waiting too long before they're gone.

I'll wait to hear Operations with Contempt before I decide whether I need it. Death Zones has grown on me a lot, I particularly like the 2nd "harder" disc but not sure I need b-sides?

The Osaka record however was an instant cop. Really glad to see this being released.

Into_The_Void

the sample doesn't arouse any interest or big expectations, to be honest. The previous one was good but I think this project already said everything it had to say.

They have arguably said the same from the very beginning. Who said you need to reinvent yourself or show "progress" on each release or say something new anyway, how can we assume that was ever the idea? Maybe doing the same thing or variations of it over and over chasing some idea or perfecting the formula is motivation enough to keep going. Or something else entirely. I personally never tire of their way of finding that timbre I fetishize that very few others can match. Although some of their albums rank higher on my list than others, it's still always a pleasure to hear a new one. I preordered both LPs without listening to any teasers and expect things to be the same as usual = good.

I agree with your statement. They have kind of centered around same ideas or topics from the beginning, but certainly have accomplished doing so by revealing a great tapestry of their work from all these years, which seems like an illustrious stride towards progress as a whole as far the project is concerned. I'm also of the opinion that all of their work is great and they do indeed have albums that stand out above others.

Is the new one just supposed to be leftovers from the "Death Zones" sessions? Was that from the video preview?

I assumed from the description but honestly not sure. "One Year after exemplary :DEATH ZONES: had been identified, the struggle of positioning the table from where we get our spoons full of hatred served continues. Fed up, its time to let loose and free yourself, now."

Listened to Death Zones yesterday on high volume. Wanted to give it another chance but for me, it remains one of their weakest albums. Enjoyed the last few 7"s a lot more.

Earth O.D.

I agree "Death Zones" is a bit sprawling, but the EP compilation works as a whole.

No need for endless speculations, I´m in for more!

Phenol

Death Zones has that long drawn and grinding atmosphere that fits the concept perfectly but also makes it difficult to digest. For me, listening to it on LP has the effect that I have a hard time remembering any standout tracks when the record is through. I'm thinking about getting the CD version, as I have a feeling that listening in a different way might open the album up more for me.
