Jukka Siikala's Seksnobyl is an art/photo book. It has just 3 pages of text to give you the context. Strong story that leaving you in a weird situation to feel horny, sick, disgust on the same time. To wish never be there, cause ... what if you couldnt hold yourself and participated ? You never know ... Artwork amplifies your feelings. You are in the list. Do you jump into the pit / do you enter the cabin ? If you deny, will be a way back ? - This would be great story for a movie. - IOPS , ofcource.

Very cinematic indeed. As I was reading this, visuals of murky covert canoe trip followed by redneck incest espionage plays out in my head. Maybe Jukka should do a short film of this? Is this story even true? Doesn't matter I suppose. 10/10 magazine. Anxious for more!

Just ordered "Against The Modern World: Traditionalism And The Secret Intellectual History Of The Twentieth Century" by Mark Sedgwick. Looks like a good history lesson about the rise and continuing influence of traditional/perennial thinkers (ala Guenon, Frithjof, Evola, et al) in theology, philosophy, and contemporary politics.

Quite many books read, but seems pointless to write about Finnish language ones on international forum.

English written books, this is going right now, and quite good. Not finished yet, but half way through and nice anecdotes here and there, some stories of early label challenges etc. There is funny store of SORE THROAT discgrace to the corpse of sid LP recordings, where Earache have studio budget of 1000GBP to record week in studio. What band did was spend 200 pounds to record whole album in day, and then in hopes to keeping 800,- for themselves. Plan failed when Digby shows up into studio at end of week to discover nobody is recording anything. He pays studio 200, takes masters and leaves, not intending to give rest of budget to the "band". Hah..  Not that much of Sore Throat in this book. It mentions already by Indestroy LP (saw throat), members could not stand eachother to the point that they could not be in studio at the same time. I guess rest of Sore Throat guys have been expressing little dislike towards Hammy during the years.

Speaking of Siikala, looks like Adam Lehrer just did an interview with him via the Safety Propaganda newsletter. I haven't read it yet but looking forward to diving into it tomorrow.

'Disco's Out, Murders In' is a good read. 80s LA punk scene is the backdrop but it's more about the violent lives of the author and his friends. Some jaw dropping moments.

'American Hardcore' would be the gold standard for an overview on the subject, covering all key moments and regional scenes, very comprehensive and written by someone 'who was there'.

'Lexicon Devil', on Darby Crash, is also very good and gives an overview of how the LA scene developed as well as documenting his sad and bizarre life. Lots of funny stories and cool info.

'The Prodigal Rogerson' is a short book of 'tragic, hilarious and possibly apocryphal' stories about Roger Rogerson of Circle Jerks. Short, fun to read and should be easy to find for cheap.

'Get in the Van' is a good read, its Rollins' Black Flag-era journals.

'We Owe You Nothing', Punk Planet collected interviews, has a wide range of opinion spanning from Frank Kozik to Donna Dresch to film makers and activists. Lots of information but a bit dry to read.

'Story of H8000 Hardcore' is a massive 600+ page book with a focus on Belgium, recommended to anyone with interest in 90s metallic hardcore and its roots.

'Touch & Go: Complete Hardcore Punk Zine' is self explanatory.

'Armed with Anger' focuses on UKHC and underground punk in the 90s.

'Our Band Could Your Life' covers some first wave USHC and its outgrowth on labels like SST and Dischord.

'Burning Fight' on various bands and styles in 90s USHC.

'Please Kill Me', oral history of NYC punk and CBGBs scene.

'Dance of Days' on DC HC.

I haven't read 'Mutations' by Sam McPheeters yet but I'm curious to. Essays on different bands, styles and scenes I believe.

There are a lot of memoirs from people like John Doe, Alice Bag, Gregg Turner, Nancy Barille.... John Joseph and Harley Flanagan both have books. Too many people to list really.

Just finished the Sotos and Maunz book, I think it's the best Sotos in a very long time.

I am really obsessed at the moment with the dark fantasy works of Karl Edward Wagner and postmodern apocalyptic fiction of László Krasznahorkai.

I read Siikala's Spaniels a few weeks ago, and I thought it was great.  Whereas the recent "Human Porridge" cassette was the soundtrack to his porn-noir aesthetic, this was the storyline.  Across a loose series of episodes of an unnamed narrarator's life, Siikala weaves between anti-social fantasy and a slavish submissiveness to social expectations and norms.  From what I understand, this is his first attempt at writing something substantial, and it is a fantastic start.  His visual art is great, but I think he might be an even better author.  I hope he writes more.

I am currently finishing up Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, which is wonderful for completely different reasons.  Every city is the same as any other, except that every city is actualy many different cities!

I´m currently reading Yukio Mishima´s "Music". His books are always (at least for what I read from him) masterpieces and this doesn´t seem to differ, finely written with a deep focus on the characters' personalities and their psyche. There´s always a spiritual element behind the Mishima´s narrative, due to the evident personal involvement with his writings.
