then latest hard skin record follow what we said some months ago and confirm them my current fave oi! band... that track the Kids are innocent is complete classic, even in the becky bondage version... old school sound

Normally hardly ever listen more "modern" (melodic) hardcore, but was at STILL BURNING YOUTH (Ita) gig and energy what was there was very intense. Sadly sound of albums is so modern sound. Vocals was much more intense live and more ripping sound. Playing cover songs of Cripple Bastards etc.

Same could be said about Path Of Resistance (ger). Very very rarely listen metallic hardcore. Certainly P.O.R. won't match strength of bands like Kickback for example, but put this in line together with some Finnish bands like Bolt of whatever, and it certainly has more charm in its Brutal Justice Hardcore. Seen them now two times, and certainly live situation is much better than records...

regarding the German path of resistance... still cannot understand why they ripped off the name from the earth crisis side project and why most nshc projects completely copycat original artwork

I was wondering the same thing... when Earth Crisis came through recently (great show!), I was bugging Scott about the possibility of some Path shows some time. I hope it happens.
Where we're from, the birds sing a pretty song and there's always music in the air.

their first album is a complete classic.... some of the best singalongs of those years.

Mikko mentioning melody in hc... there are many brilliant band to look for... although I have always been more into aggressive stuff these were always a good alternative: youth brigade (when I got into punk they, doa and toxic reasons were the biggest name for Italy), zero boys, 7 seconds, gorilla buscuits, reason to believe, shelter, up front, embrace, dag nasty and, although OI! , Cock Sparrer.

Listening to a lot of Broken Bones, The Exploited (Live at the Whitehouse and Death Before Dishonour), Cracked Cop Skulls, Statement, English Dogs, and Venom.

1)  I'm always surprised by Broken Bones.  It makes no sense at this point.  A)  each time being reminded why Kawakami/Disclose was so obsessed with the Bonecrusher era  B)  not caring much for post-Bonecrusher  C)  wishing I'd heard Dem Bones a lot earlier than I did.  D)  sorry my first experience with them was Live at the 100 Club, because it is an awful live album.

2)  Live at the Whitehouse is still very funny.  Death Before Dishonour isn't given enough respect in the early British crossover market.

3)  Cracked Cop Skulls is a great example why the transition from the 90s to the 2000s has been so disappointing.  Everything about this band is exquisite, particularly the brutality and primal vibes.  I hadn't heard Statement, and while different, the quality is there.

4)  I've never been able to get into the English Dogs, and I still can't.  I was a Combat fanboy.  My record stores made sure of that.  They were in a very small group of Combat bands I couldn't hack.  I keep hoping I'll hear them differently.  Nope.

Death Before Dishonour is my favorite Exploited album...dare say one of my favorite albums period.
It's one of only two albums that I have a copy of on every physical format available.
The ep with United Chaos and Anarchy (along the same time of Death...if I remember correctly) was also top notch.

Matter of fact...aside from some live records I don't remember ever being disappointed with Exploited.
If I revisited the live stuff I may change my tune toward those..though I'm certain I don't need them in my collection again.

Just dragged out my dusty copy of Horror Epics along with a One Way System best of comp.

I pulled out my copy of "Horror Epics" l.p. over x-mas holiday and cranked up the stereo. Still a classic with its crushing 80's drum sound, weird tom-heavy rhythms, almost "industrial" in a way...love it and it always reminds me of good times. Need to find some old ONE WAY SYSTEM, i think the only shit i have is on Riot-City comps etc, but even their later more metallic thrash was pretty killer. I love that era of thick-skulled shit kicking punk. Militant, bordering on almost right-wing reactionary attitude to keeping uk82 mohican melodies pure and untainted by artsy fartsy influence...BRAINDANCE is another example of this style done right.

That Hoax album is good.  Feels twice as long as it is, though.

Which is not that bad, in my opinion. After you finish listening to them, some hardcore LPs make you question "well, is that all there is?". The Hoax album, on the other hand, feels like an intense and rewarding experience. I really did like it (and the packaging is top notch).

Right now, I'm listening to COKE BUST... good shit indeed, no frills pissed off HC in the vein of Cut The Shit and other similar bands.

IMHO to date still the best Italo-OI! record. great lyrics, original atmospheres and impressive singalongs.
