Traci Lords Loves Noise - The Ultimate Fantasy (Reanimated Miscarriage)
More garbage, this time in the form of recontextualizing classic TLLN blasts into the sleek shine of the 21st century. While this is a release of all older material, this new edit breathes fresh air into it. As one Mr. Mooz mentioned here before, it's tighter than the original run of Traci Lords tapes were, which I think works for how the progression of noisecore has come with acts who cut it up like they would a Sickness record. Doesn't mean there isn't room for silliness though. There's still plenty of that. Good stuff.
Residual - Mythology of Brain & Body (Satatuhatta)
Finnish noise acquisition that has quite a punch to it! Feels like a proper punch in the gut, clocking in at just around 35 minutes. These Finns certainly have a penchant for keeping things tight in the sound department, which I cannot help but feel appreciative for. This deep blend of feedback, vocals and crumbling factory sounds doesn't overstay its welcome, so I am not left tapping my feet asking "when will this end?" No, instead, I ask "wait, that was it?" Now a repeat listen must occur.
Furnace - Relics of a Forgotten Future (Reanimated Miscarriage)
Tape 1 of this 3 tape set covering an oddball side project of black metal outfit Absu. I love being exposed to early experimental of this ilk, as you start to see how the second generation of people take their love of metal and try to meld it with something like SPK. But there isn't some open access to gear information, so lots of guessing has to be made. Some Roland synth and a sampler to record scraping metal on will have to do. It sounds primal and shitty. I love it. The weirdo industrial metal on Side A is cool, but Side B is what sold me. Look forward to the next tapes coming up here.
