Wutanes Heer "Opus Alchymicum" a mix between rhythmic noise and industrial with etheral synth parts, utterly distorted and pitched vocals mixed with yells, noise loops and a ghastly eerie atmosphere..an hostile work but extremely fascinating for me. Released by the excellent Membrum Debile Propaganda. Someone knows if the mastermind Luca is still active somehow?

As expected, a mixed bag of candy. Some sweet, others not so sweet. I have heard half of the material before, so it is mostly a handy way of listening to a bunch of 7" for me and catch up on the ones I have missed. What is evident here is the evolution of the BU sound, and a great way of experiencing that. Another added bonus is the shorter track-length, it adds more variation - a perfect record to play multiple times. Spinning it a third time today currently!

I wonder if these are ripped straight from vinyl? The '90s stuff most likely at least is. There's some variation on sound volume between the tracks but overall this was a great comp. I was otherwise well aware of where the tracks are from, but Pestilence box set 1994? Never even heard of that one. Aesthetically well put together: 7" size cardboard covers for the comp of 7" tracks.

Yeah agree with this. I think I am enjoying the rarities box even more. Varying track lengths and styles again. The first CD is very good.

Anyone got the new Linekraft 7" and care to share a review? I am debating picking it up... I don't really enjoy playing 7"s but Linekraft could convince me, especially if the material is on the more intense end.

Borbetomagus - Buncha Hair That Long (Agaric Records, 1992)

Oh! This one opens up with some deep bellowing sound. Almost like pagan war horns sounding before battle... at times the saxophones and guitar blend so well together, it's difficult to pinpoint who is making what sounds.

The trio of Jim, Don, and Donald return with a follow-up album to their classic, Snuff Jazz.

Snuff Jazz is more jazz punk, with feral energy and ferocity. Buncha Hair That Long explores different textures.  The tones and timbres are deeper and lower in the register. The rapid attack is somewhat replaced with longer tones. The three musicians really lock into that full band sound often mentioned in the liner notes throughout previous albums. A live river of flowing sounds weaving among one another.

This album also has something rare among other Borbetomagus albums... a cover song! The album ends with a rendition of Blue Jay Way, which is originally by The Beatles and written by George Harrison.

I'm still impressed with how fresh Borbetomagus can sound from album to album. They are not a group that produces the same release over and over again. Always searching and exploring something different.
