Wounded Son - Long Live The Crack House!

Neat little 2 track cassette that came with the special edition of the LP "Pain Is All I Have For You", listened separately since I'm more than familiar with the full length. Dark, spaced out ambient industrial courtesy of James Light. Hoping we get a new album under this moniker soon.

Poacher - Range Rover on Fire (Adjacent)
Extremely blown out and rumbling harsh noise from this otherwise reclusive LA by-way-of MA star.  I really like the sound palette here, as well as the artist in general, but wish that this one had a little more variety to its movement.  It's mostly rumble and crumble, with the best moments coming when the low end draws back a bit.

H.Ö.H – Epäjohdonmukainen (Freak Animal Records)
Drifted off to sleep with this one playing last night, which maybe was not the best choice.  It was much harsher than expected!  Seems like a very haphazard cut-up affair, just clipping the best moments from a source tape to snipe onto the mix, rather than a meticulously crafted piece.  Still contains the high level of quality that I expect from the artist though.

Black Leather Jesus - Torture Machinist (Chaotic Noise Productions)
Ah, holy shit!  No wonder this one's considered a classic; so fucking great!  I swear any 90s Ramirez project I hear nowadays more often than not leaves me in awe.  For me, the highlights here would have to come from all the chaotic vocal work and turntablism that covers a majority of Side B.  It's harsh, but also so fucking weird in the best way possible.

Grunt - Installation of Blood & Steel (Industrial Recollections, reissue)
Following the trend of harsh into probably the harshest territory I will go into today.  This one is just pure hellfire for 30 minutes nonstop.  The flame won't stop burning until the disc ends... excellent.

My rather lengthy review of Anenzephalia's new album in the Belgian Dark Entries magazine. In Dutch language, however can be translated semi adequately by online tools if interested.

Lovely reading indeed. I would like to read more from you.

Death Kneel - Dawn Simulation (Chondritic Sound)
I hadn't listened to this one in several years, so having it be my morning drive music was a great way to revisit.  It's not just a collection of ripping tracks, but has some journey to follow throughout its runtime.  Really appreciated that aspect of it more this time around.  Sound wise, you have the beautiful & sinister coexisting in harmony while a myriad of tinier earworms burrow in across both sides of the stereo field.  Sounds I think of include dripping water, chairs pushing, some shaker rattling underneath a muddy drone; all good stuff.

Taint - Sexsick (The Ajna Offensive)
Another record that has some journey it takes you on.  Whereas Dawn Simulation sounds more like the theme to a night of life contemplation, Sexsick is the theme to nights of degeneracy where all logic is thrown out the window.  Samples cut in between are gross and sinister (not like I needed to tell you that).  Keith's vocals can reach surprisingly higher ranges than I had previously remembered.  It's been some time since I heard a project of his where the vocals made their way to the front.  The sound that sticks in my head though comes from the back half of the record, where it sounds like some synth mutated into a dive-bombing guitar.  Knowing how invested into the deep underground the man was, I am not sure if it would pain him to hear that these moments reminded me of fellow the bombs that fellow Texan Dimebag Darrell would drop on his Pantera solos.  Hah.  Here though, they are much eerier than rocking.  I love it.
