Haven't listened to OWC yet, either, but absolutely disagree about the Osaka LP, which I thought was way better than "MaunduNi-Mau", for example. But maybe it was the whiskey...

I felt exactly opposite! Not sure am I just on very good mood for this, but after blasting new album few times, few times GW Punishment CD reissue and then put this live LP on turntable and thinking that live version of new album track that opens the live sounds way more aggro (perhaps due vocals) than studio version and instantly set good mood to it. Vocals in general worked well in this.

New album, listened several times and perhaps being shorter than Death Zones, it hit harder right away. Perhaps vocal sound is not as good as in best albums. I suspect also new gear that appears to bring new types of synths besides the classic GO tones.

Operations With Contempt is fantastic. Loving the more direct approach and the choice of samples. Captagon Army is maybe the most striking GO track since Autodefensa?

Not sure if this was covered here yet, but as I am listening to "Death Zones" once again I am wondering what kind of synths G.O. are currently using.

I think with "Under Kontrakt" the sound had changed, it is a obvious contrast to the albums that came before. Now G.O. uses sharper, at times metallic timbre, crisp, focused throbbing, almost nothing resembling the lower fidelity of older material. Many of the synth lines used nowadays don't seem to come from the good old MS-20. I like the new direction, G.O. sounds colder and more "clinical" now.

So does anyone know what exactly they've been using recently? Or is it still the same stuff?

The new 7" arrived a few days ago. Have to give it a few more spins but wasn't immediately impressed.

New 7" seems just to be a rehearsal piece, love the gritty sound but really nothing to chase after if you missed it. Classic Berkowitz tune rehashed/expanded upon for the NYC show. Guess the wemon of Queens are the prettiest after all. Does anyone have the Dresden tape with two additional tracks and can report on them?

Collaboration 12" with Prurient again didn't really hook me in. The Carte Blanche album is easily my least favorite in their discography and there is hardly anything exciting here either. Guess the final track 'Ear Necklace' is a nice bass heavy stomper.
Time to throw Operations with contempt on the deck again, fantastic album.

I heard some people say the 7"s of religious fanaticism were underwhelming. I can get what someone means when there is track with traditional synth oscillation and Jonestown samples going on top, hah.. But, despite significant overuse of the Jonestown sample within underground music, it is what it is. Still kind of mindblowing scenario, almost 50 years later. There is more here of course. Anyone who missed the 7"s or who doesn't like format that you need to flip over so frequently, this c. 50 min CD actually reveals how nicely the 7"s fit together and without the flavor of 7" vinyl sound, it is quite different sounding. It is possible that this may be even stronger album that Death Zone, which I liked, but now when you listen 7" material in one bleak session, as opposed to format that kind of requires "hit singles", it really works great on CD. There is not that much of aggressive pieces. Some of that, but more emphasis on bleak and hopeless vibes.

Excellent. Because All Is Suffering is coming my way soon. (As well as The Truth Will Set You Free and Operations With Contempt.) Thanks for this review.

And thanks for this thread. GO is completely new to me! 😳
