I agree with Combat Shock. The synth sounds are pretty good. I haven't watched the film in a few years so can't remember if there is even a soundtrack other than at the end?

More HG Lewis:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDZZwCH9U_I

This will be coming from Death Waltz soon & it's another fave film of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS7k3G_6IjE

yesyes , the synth-sounds are all through the film , especially in the scenes where the junkies chase eachother through the stinky streets of NYC , the Vietnam-war flashback scenes mostly have some library/marching music but the synth-sounds are (thankfully) more dominantly present in the flick...

More HG Lewis is always a good thing in my book , thanks !

agree with you on "Assault on Precint 13" , both the (original) flick as well as the OST kick ass imo.
i believe there was a remake of it some time ago ??? ...not that it matters too much to me anyway as i usually don't watch remakes (especially not the current flood of classic cult/horror movie remakes)

A pretty decent film I saw in theatres recently that had a pretty good soundtrack was "You're Next". Whole film was a half decent modern reference to classic 80s slasher films, including soundtrack. Very synth heavy and became increasingly intense as the film progressed. Not sure if any samples of it are available online or not.

Death Waltz is releasing ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 as a one-time pressing of 1,000 copies. Light in the Attic has it up for pre-order for those within the U.S.

Release date for LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is getting close! Sure hope they're running on schedule.

Waxwork Records put Day of the Dead back on sale couple of days ago. Seems to still be in stock. For those of you who are concerned about the quality, I can at least say that the packaging looks fantastic:

The DAY OF THE DEAD looks really good but the music isn't anything I'd listen to. I watched the film not too long ago to make sure. I kind of kick myself for skipping RE-ANIMATOR from the same label.

Death Waltz will be releasing the ost for "Slumber Party Massacre" which, supposedly, was created with only " a Casio keyboard, a cymbal and [two] crystal glasses". It was originally planned for Halloween but has been pushed back. DW also has plans for a bunch of Italian ost's that have never been issued before. All that info came from this interview: http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3257728/interview-talking-the-rise-of-vinyl-horror-osts-with-waxwork-records-death-waltz-records-and-one-way-static-records/

I'm psyched for ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS7k3G_6IjE

I hope DW will be doing Carpenter's THE THING some time in the near future. Only makes sense as they've released everything else.

There are strong rumors that Waxwork will be doing CREEPSHOW & One-Way Static has announced their next release will be THE HILLS HAVE EYES. Both of those are must-owns for me.

Not horror related, but Mondo released a 2xLP of Ghibli movies songs by the Czech Philarmonic Orchestra.

My copy should arrive next week, hope it'll sound good.

Looks beautiful!

A friend of mine bought some really nice ghibli and other anime vinyl when we went to Japan some years ago. Weird synth 'image albums' of ghibli soundtracks alongside more straightforward OSTs.

Refn's Valhalla Rising, oppressive drones all the way.

Watched Drive and Only God Forgive last night, more "pop" music, but still great. Esp. OGF had some fine moments.

+; Picked up the soundtrack to "Edge of Darkness" today, the british miniseries form early eighties. Some nice gritty synths there, topped with coked out guitarleads by Clapton.

Finally watched Beyond the Black Rainbow, pretty nice synth soundtrack treading the same evocative/homage/pastiche line as the rest of the film.

I just received a shipping notice for Last House so it'll arrive next week. BUIO OMEGA should show up on Monday or Tuesday.

One-Static's next release will be THE HILLS HAVE EYES. I don't remember anything from the soundtrack but I love the film so will, most definitely, order it unless the price is way up there.

I've listened to Goblin's DAWN OF THE DEAD & PROFONDO ROSSO Lp's the last couple of nights.

I've not read this entire thread, but if it isn't limited to OSTs, Cory Strand (Altar of Waste, Lethe, etc.) does reinterpretations of many classic horror OSTs.  Some are meh, but The Shining Ancillaries are fantastic.  Probably going to pick up the Halloween II drone version that was released today too.
