"See, there ideas are pretty much the opposite of fascism, so therefore logical conclusion would be... ?". Perhaps we can see utter void in girls eyes staring this difficult riddle.
I could not comment due to technical problems but that was exatcly the first point I wanted to underline.
These people (liberal-fem-intellectual-antithis/antithat-ecc..) has the Gramscian convinction that whatever do not fit their interest is fascism. It is something we said hundreds of time.
But what is fascism? Fascism (and neofascism) is a well defined political doctrine that is done of many ideas, tendencies, beliefs, attitudes, ecc, but that stands for a certain idea of state, morals, etc. I repeat, with many shades.
But the black leather boots, the apparent glorification of violence itself and many other gimmicks that are part of underground culture do not necessary fit into that.
These people consider fascism whatever either hurt their sensitiveness, or secretly turn them on - but will not admit it.
Living their lives considering themselves as natural born victims of some injustice.
As you pointed out, William didn't need to claim he was not fascist because he is not... and the list of his beliefs evidently is saying "look, I am not the monster you think I am".
Anyway, I know my English is far to be perfect, but it took me three times to understand it. I may be stupid - very possible - but if you write in a way only your circle of artsy-fartsy academic friends can get the point, it becomes wasted space.
