Yes, that IS a picture of Def Wish Cast.  However the point of the article was that they are highlighting that some sectors of the skip hop scene are focusing on a white audience only, leading to potential WP influence.  This is what Def Wish Cast are pointing out - not advocating.

"Skip-hop" - the term "skip" was a derogatory slang term given by Greek and Italian immigrants during the 1960's/70's to white Australians. Short for Skippy. I've never been to a hip-hop gig in my life but it doesn't surprise me in the least that there'd be racist whites getting into it.

Suffice to say I'd be very surprised if there wasn't any such thing as white power hip-hop by now. When nazi skins started doing rock they copped flack from the older white supremacist crowd for doing "nigger" music. Certainly, there was plenty more ammunition for the skins to use in defence of doing rock music, it'd be harder to do hip-hop, but it would have to be happening by now.

There was also a swedish nationalist reggaetrack released some years ago. I'm not sure how serious it was in itself but the people behind it are an organisation of the far right.

The main organizer behind the Swedish indiepop festival Emmaboda is getting a lot of slack these past few days for his comments on gender equality  there's been a lot of debate about male organizers only booking male musicians and how that could/should be changed, and when confronted about the lack of women on his festival he replied that he didn't give a fuck, they book bands they like themselves and debates on equality isn't in their interest. One of my many jobs these days is to evaluate applications for state funding. All projects are suppose to be "cutting edge" and "new". I don't know how many applications I have rejected where the "new" and "cutting edge" have all been about giving women a "chance", creating all female festivals for music, dance, film, photography, petting whatever. They don't see the problem about lamenting against festivals for not having 50/50 gender and at the same time seeking state funding for 100% female festivals. It just so much bull.
